Man is the only animal that is always more than the sum of his parts, more than his genes, more than his biology. And he can choose. He can choose to be kind, he can choose to merciful, he can choose to turn his life around. I've even heard of very evil people who one day chose to leave that life. And then become very good, moral people dedicated to helping people. I was recently talking to my therapist about crime. And he said he thinks it's caused by the cycle of abuse. Abusers often were abused themselves. But they can be the one person in that chain that breaks that cycle.
