On a scale of 1 to 10, how "hippie" are you? (justify it)

    I'd say 3.

Because "Hippiedom" is a filler philosophy for me.

and I'm 70% full with other beliefs. 70% is probably an average quantity for the percentage of
your life's thoughts covered under your consistent worldview without fillers.

Only thing I justify is an unnecessary purchase that I want more than need.

Hmmmm, inside? 100% hippy in my soul. On the outside, as much as i can be but i think it's more of an attitude. I have clothes that might speak my mind for me but that's not always an indication. It's my way of thinking for sure. Hippy all the way :D

I think everyone knows that it's an idividual thing. We'd be silly to think there is one definition with people being so different.

how are we suposed to judge hippiness? count the number of tiedyes? if so, 0, i think i've onlyy owned 2 in my life
i supose if i'm the 1 who has to define what the term means to me, & then decide if that term fits me, i'd have to say 8 1/2-9
actualy, to gain alittle more accuracy, i converted to percentage & came up with 94.627% which surprised me since i was guessing 87%ish but i guess math never lies so, there ya go

Exactly. How do we define "hippie"? In terms of political beliefs, I guess I can be considered liberal. I'm all for peace, and especially love. HOWEVER, I don't do drugs at all.

    What defines a hippie?

well, I wasnt there when they passed out the hippie club cards (draft notices), but aside from that I aint afraid to tell ya, I am a freakin nine out of ten. It dont matter to me how one defines it, if you are a hippie you will fit most any description or label society throws around.

I used to think i was about a seven or so, untill one of the guys who played music with Janis Joplin told me otherwise! That kicked it up a notch for me.

I would have to say I'm a 9-now. In my teen years, I was a 100% 10--clothes, mentality--everything. Had three sons, so the focus went down a notch.

Late response to this thread. To me, this is a continuation of the "when did you realize..." poll as I don't believe that I gave a complete answer- nor do I necessarily have one here. Perhaps the greater question is rating my own relevance at HipForums- which I might put at a 3 and falling... but is a close parallel to the topic of this thread.

This does seem to be a great online community- it's just that after a little more than a week here I don't sense any real connection with the good folks here- alot of what I imagined to be thought-provoking posts have seem to have fallen on deaf ears which has gotten me to thinking I'm either not typing loudly enough ;) or that maybe I that I'm not necessarily classified as a hippie and what I've said hasn't struck much of a chord. No biggie really, life's a journey where some folks are in constant search for the discovery of who they are. My trek seems far from over. Likely, part of what brought me here is the fact that many people have called me a hippie- though I think that's largely superficial... they think I look like one.

Being not quite old enough to have been in the original "crop" of hippies, I could never really call myself one with much confidence. Nonethe less I find myself drawn both to the older generation and much of the younger set. While I'm inextricably tangled in an existence that for lack of any other compelling criteria can only be defined by the fact that I'm gainfully employed. Trying to describe the character traits within me that evoke the "hippie" label is a little like trying to describe the color green to someone born blind. Perhaps it's the discomfort with which I view my own marriage to the economy and latent materialism that says more than anything that there's at least a little hippie in me.

How do you measure it on a scale?

    I am hippie-blood. I am what I am.
