Okay...I admit it...I've succumbed to the commercialism of the Bonnaroo Music Festival! Just wondering if any other "old hippies" were going? It would be great to meet up if you are. My daughter, funkyphreshmama, is advocating meeting at the Centeroo Fountain at 11:30 Friday morning.
Nah, my concert-going days are over, especially a festival like Bonaroo. Too many folks, too many cars, too much too much. The older I get, the more I like the solitude of a few good friends making music on our own. Some friends are going. They've rented a travel bus bit and will avoid jacked up hotel prices or sleeping in a tent and will cook in it, avoiding jacked up food prices. Not to mention avoiding the Port-O-Potties. Hope you have a jammin time!
I thought about going, I've never been. But I hear some things that bother me about it. People setting up "ketchens" and over chargeing at outragous prices for food. People selling water, what, no public water in the area? Not to mention the ticket prices. In the old days I don't think I ever paid over 15 dollars to see anybody, including Hendrix in 1969. Don't people sneak into festables anymore? No, it would be better for all concerned for me to stay home. I would probably be organizing armys to storm the food kitchens,to give the food away . The kitchens sound like a bunch of capitalistic pigs trying to profit from the miss fortune of thier fellow "rooers". Whats hip about that? I'm sure I would have a good time. I just have some philosophical objections to the whole commercialized thing.
Nor quite like The Hog Farm, eh MarkN? Well, I suppose it's what to expect these days seeing as how there were booths at the last (ahem) Woodstock that sold credit cards...WTF?? ~walks off chanting Show me the money, show me the money, show me th...~
