right, i'm currently about 220lbs, 6ft 1, quite fat but i can run ok-ishly. this gym has everything, it's brand new, it has treadmills, rowing machines, cross trainers, bikes, about 30 weights machines (for each different muscle group) me and my friend are going to try and go every day and i want to know what would be a good mix of things, e.g 10 minute run followed by 5 mins on cross trainer then 100 reps on the abs machine or something. please help
first, your not going to work all your muscle groups every single day you workout. i'd go with a 4-day split. 1st day you work your upper back and chest, 2nd day you work arms, 3rd day you do abs and lower back, and 4th day do legs. or something similar to that split...that split is very generic. your going to want to have time to rest, thats the only way your muscles will grow - you need to let them rest. so you could do the split on MWFS and rest of tuesday, thursday and sunday...or figure something out with your schedule. after each workout, i'd do some cardio - after your workout is the best time to do cardio and i would recommend HIIT (high intensity interval training) for cardio. hope that helped...
indeed it did, i've only just checked this post, i've been to the gym 3 days in a row now, 2 and half hours each night, quite tiring, i'm not normally a running type of guy but i'm loving it, me and my friend run about an hour a night (not all at once, i'm not that good ) and then have 20 minute breaks where we use the weights machines, i'm concerntrating on abs + biceps + pecks at the moment but i do a few quads/calf machines every now and then. but yeah, i'm loving it so i'm hoping to get fit quite quickly, by the way, i've lost 4lbs in 3 days
thats good that you like working out right now...but like i said before, you will need to rest your body. if you continue to work out each day, every day, you'll soon see what i mean to rest up...thats unless your some type of super-human who can work out forever, which i think is highly unlikely. i lift 3 times a week, and swim 5 times a week...thats because i'm a collegiate athlete...sometimes i do some stuff on saturday, but mostly i just work out M-F and leave the weekend to rest... but, keep having fun, thats always the best...
slowly but steady is the best way if you are losing weight. they say the best rate is about a pound a week, because that usually means you are dieting at a healthy pace, and you will keep the weight off. you shouldnt spend 2 1/2 hours in the gym anyway, i think that if ur working ur muscles too much, you will start damaging your muslces resulting in injury or fatigue. dont quote me on this though, im not a personal trainer
sounds about right, i've been going everyday (except sundays) for 2 weeks now, i've been doing mainly cardio and have lost half a stone (7lbs) which i don't think is that bad I've also been doing a bit of weight lifting (not as much as cardio) so i'll be putting a bit of weight on (MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT ) It's christmas time so i'm not hoping to keep losing weight, if anything i expect that i'll put weight on, i'm not going to diet over christmas lol. I'll then have first part of next year to try and loose a bit then the rest of the year to get fit.
