Who else here plays magic?

Not necessarily while high (I have a bitch of a time remembering the strategy for my decks while I'm high) but just in general.

I play a white deck and a black/green deck that both play very well considering my monetary investment in the game is minimal. This thread may well double as a D&D discussion to get all the stoner nerds out of the woodwork around here.

 

I haven't played in years. It's fun, but no one I now still play. I still remember how to play and everything. Its the same with D&D: Fun, but no one plays it anymore. Ahh memories. I'm high

 

That's what I thought until a couple months ago and some close friends started playing, all of a sudden I had dusted off my old decks and sometimes when we talk about it in public someone will mention that they used to play and stopped because they thought everyone else had quit. Apparently there's a serious social stigma about it...

magic and d&d were made for stoners, by stoners. in a recent high times there was a story about some of the creators of the games getting high at a d&d conference and explaining how smokers were their primary target consumer.

I've got tons of em' (the magic cards, not pokemon ). I got them from this ex tournament player that converted to some religion and just gave them to me. I'd feel damn silly playing them now though. But their still fun to dig out and just goof off in times of boredom.

 

call me a nerd but i used to be magic champion. I used have have near 15,000 common n uncommons + about 200 rares. I won a couple tournaments at like comic shops n stuff. but i dunno i just fell out of playing it and sold my shit on ebay. It was a fun game but realizing as much as a goofball as i am, that i was the only sociallly inclined(aka cool) person in the tourneys really was a turn off. If i had met other stoners who played rather then 34 year old porn addicts who lived in their parents basements i think i woulda continued it. I usually played a green/ red deck for the guerillas n the haste .

 

jman, I seriously hope you're not trying to refer to me cuz you'd be seriously mistaken. I just love everything about weed culture and I think even young stoners grow to be older stoners, doesn't necessarily mean you automatically turn into a burned out pervert scavenging from your parents. Isn't that from an anti-weed commercial as well?

I know what you mean, I can't stand more than 15 minutes at the card shop because some other guy who probably hasn't ever worn deoderant will come in and start standing right next to me.

 

oh shit dude, 34 was jsut a random number that came out, i wasnt referring to you at all. And i didnt mean stoners turn into that type, i was sayin thats what i percieved most of the losers in the tourneys i played in as. Sorry if it sounded like i was raggin u cuz i wasnt at all.

 

lol at myself again. That's cool. Well off to play NWN. That's what happenned to all the stoner d&d players, the digital age made us lazy, now we don't have to carry around big bags of dice, tables, maps, etc.....

no, magic ruined my life.. my junior highschool friends kicked me off their table because they all played magic, and i didnt.


i then got 5 days lunch detention (where you have to have lunch in a room where you cant talk) because i was out of my assigned seat.

 

Well, I never played card games except pokemon(i was like 10) and I havnt played D&D. I was more into video games. Like I still play Final Fantasy Games, I even have FF VII FFVIII(gotta rebuy it some punk broke the cd) I might buy FFIX(9?) and I own FFX. Im a pritty big video game nerd, like I love playing these games. But recently Ive been hooked on Counter Strike, that game just kicks so much ass .

hehehe I remember this video on the internet of people playing D&D in thier mothers basements. And gettin all pissed off at the game and throwing big fits hehehehehehhe.

 

I used to make fun of the people who played those games in elementary/middle school. But I'm a nerd too so what the hey.
