i've found that this is my favorite way to draw. this is the first time i tried this and i think it turned out well.
thanks everyone. and yeah. i love how it urned out. i used almost a whole box of 36 pastels on it though. so it could get expensive.
wow dropkick I hate you! lol its awsome, I dont understand how your able to work with them, I hate them so much. If I use them it always looks like the kids start drawing again. Great job man.
i used to feel that way too. on paper, but on wood they are like gold. i also used A LOT of colors to make up each actual color. the wood is completely saturated, with layers and layers. i think this may be my new style because everyone i come across has the same opinion of oil pastels, so this way i can be different. thank you very much skhip.
this one is 18 x 24 in chalk. this was an assignment if you didn't guess. we had to do three, so here is my second one.
Oil pastels on canvas are nice, too. I agree that on paper they suck, but on top of paint and spread with turpentine they are great.
did one sketch with them dropkick. Its a copple of months ago, it sucks big time, than you see what I mean with kiddies stuff: that second is again awsome. oh did any of you once paint on jute?
thanks skhip. i don't even know what jute is. please inform me. i don't think your sketch looks kiddy though. i actually like it a lot. the thing with oil pastels is that you have to layer them, otherwise they do look like crayons. and i've never tried turpentine. never even thought about it actually. i'll see what happens.
this is jute dropkick http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jute here you find more about it. its awsome bought a roll of it today, its primed. For some reason if I compare it to cotton or linen It feels exotic to me, as if it comes from far away, great stuff.
