Now I am even more confused, having never heard of any of them.

It is the one downside of the internet that members come from all over the world. However learning about other peoples culture more than makes up for it.

 

"Leave it to Beaver" was a TV show in the US from 1957 - 63.

 

_______and was/is often cited as the perfect American family.

 

His name was Ken Osmond. After the show, he became a Los Angeles motorcycle police officer. He retired after getting shot five times in the line of duty.

 

I probably would have quit too...

He was one of the actors on Leave It To Beaver. The TV show was on in the USA back in the 1950s and 1960s.

Not television series that managed to cross the 'pond' so I never saw them and therefore never knew him.
