Ah, only seven days before my school undergoes an Ofsted inspection... Incredible to see the levels of stress it is creating in teachers who I believe, on the whole, do a wonderful job... I would wish that I could feel smug and say that it wasn't having any effect upon me but that would be a lie... stress seems to be like a virulent diesease that passes from person to person via the smallest word or merest glance... So... two teachers off with stress related illnesses... last time we had one heart attack induced by this whole bollocks... And we wonder why people don't want to become teachers, eh?... Fly...
Hmm yeh, stress is a growing trend in all jobs... Longer hours, more pressure... I am experiencing it myself within the utilities sector. It's important to make people accountable for the work they do.... but also I agree that the tougher, competetive environment we all live in does seem to lead to more stress related illnesses. Where I work we have a few on long term sick because of it
I remember the fuss caused by ofsted.... they were depicted to us students and creatures from the depths of hell there to pick off the weak and not perfect teachers... their aim is to shutdown schools and cause missery for all MWAHAHAHAHHAAAAA and if we were good for just one lesson..... we'd get chocolate! gotta love the faith of teachers in their students eh?! remember just chill... you know you will pull through
I think that would be better... you'd get a much more honest idea of what the school is really like... We've had Ofsted build up for a few months now... its only getting to me because I'm one of the ones near the bottom of the chain of command... so I'm only feeling pressure now because those above me are starting to go nuts due to the strain upon them, so they are transferring the pressure onto me not to fuck up... And we're bound to come out of this well because it really is a good school... so why are people so fucking stressed?... fear, eh?... Fly...
They jsut had ofstead in our english department... the teachers went blamey... i mean, mega super teacher mood. They set the tables different, begged us to turn up on time, were ultra polite, made sure they run through the entire proceedings of the lesson before during after just so we knew what were doing and made us work in groups because thats nice.. aaah bless. Haha. They were soo polite and so regimented. Liz one of my english teacher is the funniest, maddest, scatty and accident prone teacher. But that lesson when people were watching her, hahaha... she was like a super hero. She was going through all the work at a fast pace, repeating things, asking us if we all understood every other moment and making polite ha ha jokes every so often. We all got terribly confused and nodded lots and pretended we knew what was going on. It was just so humerous seeing her kissing the guys ass at every turn, she really isn't like that normally.. i mean a few lessons before she'd forgotten altogether she was teaching us and last year she slipped on a banana skin in the canteen. She was just hilerious.. and we all enjoyed joking about it in the next lesson. Ah ofsted a garanteed giggle for us students seeing our teachers get the run around... Art next week, should be interesting!
just dont wear pants on your head and shout "your all a bunch of little cunts" at your kids, and you'll be fine! ...optimism aye...aint what it used to be!
This is exactly the sort of thing I was pointing out when I put up the 'is life getting easier thread' a couple of weeks ago. How long is it now before we 'crash'?
