Office Bitches....

I spent the last three summers working in an office, and I have to say, the only good thing that came out of it (other than the money, which was more than decent) was that that's where I met my boyfriend. Honestly, the catty, backbiting womyn just made me insane. You never hear that kind of crap from men... men just don't seem to do that the way that womyn do. I hate the office atmospehere, everyone is so snarky and mean.

 

Go to college or work in social services so you don't have to deal with crap like that. I would last a day in a job like that.

 

hehe, I feel your pain sweetie...I have office skanks to the right and left of me they talk constantly real freaking loud and complain to my supervisor about the pettiest things..
They even got together to do something for my boss for boss's day and didnt include me at all..

 

I work with my mother in law in an office.. Her son is in jail and she watches me like a hawk!! It's terrible! If any one calls for me (male) she always informs them of my new last name and she does it very harshly.. So I feel you and then some.

 

It's not a "dislike for womyn" it's just that in office settings, for some reason, womyn seem to get their backs up and be nasty to eachother more than do men.

 

Yeah, women have a tendancy to be real catty in work environments. I don't know why that is, though. Maybe because women feel too competitive with eachother. I worked in a large office building too, and it seemed like I had warped back to high school. Women flirting with guys and starting drama, talking about crushes, watching you like a hawk whenever you talked to a man in the office, getting into little cliques and gossiping, crazy stuff like that.

My husband also worked in IT at the same office, and one woman got all upset with me when I was talking to him one day. Apparently she didn't know we were married, and thought I was flirting with a man she thought she had dibs on. Isn't that just insane? Then she would give me nasty looks every time we saw eachother in the office. Like I should just going to hand over my husband to her (not like he wanted any woman like that anyways).

I think that too many women try to be to competitive with other women. Always trying to have more attention, look prettier, etc...than any woman they see. It's crazy how much we let ourselves get tugged around by society's idea of what women should be.

I always try to be nice to everyone though, no matter how pretty, tall, blonde, skinny, heavy, young, old or whatever they are.

 

Cattiness between women tends to be the greatest division of power possible.

There's a kind of ideal I go by...doesn't always work...but when another girl is pissing me off, I try to think "what of myself do I see in her"? A lot of the times you'll find that the women you can't stand actually are a huge reflection of a lot of what you don't like about yourself.

In petty situations, such as office bitching, this may not apply. But it often does.

 

I guess I've just been lucky... Been working in offices for years and have never had a problem with anyone. If they had a problem with me, they either kept it to themselves or told people who didn't carry tales, cuz I've never heard it.

But, I tend to be one of those people that really tries to get along with everyone around me. So far, so good, I think.

And I am also not a ladder-climber. I am just there to do my job, the one I was hired to do. I'm not out to climb up and take someone else's job-unless they leave and it becomes available. So, most people don't see me as a threat... I think a lot of cattiness comes from that, too.

 

I use to work in a big office building for two years, and I can understand and relate to where you are coming from. I think women tend to compete with each other nonconciously or whatever. Instead of supporting each other, we tend to try and 'scratch' each other down. I seriously hate working at any job where there is a big woman to man ratio for the simple fact that I cannot deal with work gossip and drama. I tend to veer toward more males then females in any work situation, which can have its negative affects too. I don't know. Me, personally, I try to help my fellow co-workers. If I see they are doing something wrong that could get them wrote up or fired, I tell them before a 'boss' can catch them. But the favor is never returned to me.

 

That's lovely. Is it a wonder that the womyn in your office have it out for you? You hate other womyn and then complain when they hate you back. GEEZ.

Why do you use language like that about other womyn? Jealousy? Ignorance? Who knows? Has it occured to you that you are as bad as those you complain about?

I know some awful womyn, but I refuse to refer to them in such derisive terms. It is like shooting yourself in the foot.

I haven't been lucky enough to score an office job, but my mom has worked several different office type jobs and in every one, she's had horrible problems with the cattiness of the other women that worked there. My mom is a pretty ... well.. feeble personality for lack of a better descritption.. she's a nice person when it comes to professional enviroments... anyway she would always get the brunt of everything and get stabbed in the back so many times it wasn't even funny, in fact the main reason she quit most of those jobs was because of how mean and stupid the women she worked with were.

That's just the way it is, I'm afraid. Alot of the women I've experienced that with had boring home lives. The only time they got out was to go to work, so they had to create their own little dramatic soap opera there. Kill em with kindness I always say!! Throw on the biggest fake smile you can muster up and go on about your business. I also liked what rocknroll girl said..what do you see about yourself in these women. Use it as a learning tool, and you'll better yourself in the process.

 

If you knew playing the radio as loud as you were was going to annoy someone, why did you play it that loud?
