The protest was peaceful, in contrast to a Feb. 25 demonstration at a Highlands Chase branch where five protesters were arrested after a confrontation with Louisville Metro Police.

The demonstration on Tuesday was also meant to redirect public attention from that incident back to the Occupy movement’s issues, Craxton said. About a dozen officers were on scene, but mostly stayed at a distance, watching from across Jefferson or from the patio of a nearby restaurant.

The demonstrators occupied the grassy park area on the intersection of Fourth and Jefferson streets, across Jefferson from the Chase branch.

“We’re just mostly out here to educate the public and hand out information,“ said protestor Jesse Garrido, 33, who alleged that Chase had forced people from homes the bank didn’t own, among other malfeasances.
