Occupy Delaware to Foreclose on JPMorgan Chase

Joining Nationwide Action Tuesday on Chase CEO’s Birthday
Re-Charged after 1st Amendment Victory in City Council

WILMINGTON, DE. Occupy Delaware will target JPMorgan Chase’s CEO Jamie Dimon after its regular Sheriff’s sale protest this Tuesday, as part of a nationwide effort spearheaded by Occupy Our Homes (link below) and other local Occupy assemblies.

Besides March 13 being Jamie Dimon’s birthday, according to the Occupy Delaware website, he and his bank are being targeted for its role in the robo-signing scandal, its predatory lending practices, its investments in the impoverishing payday loan and tax refund anticipation scams, its role in the foreclosure crisis and economic collapse, and its squandering of TARP funds on $21 million in compensation for Dimon, highest paid CEO of the big six banks. The average teller at Chase makes $23 thousand. Chase received $25 Billion in TARP money.

Given Chase’s betrayal of its fiduciary responsibility to the American people and the world, Occupy Delaware will present JPMorgan Chase with a Notice of Foreclosure.

Occupy Delaware has been invigorated by the support it received from labor, civil rights, and peace organizations, and other members of the public in pushing back a proposed Wilmington City Council Ordinance that would have severely restricted 1st Amendment rights. The ordinance was withdrawn hours before a scheduled public hearing in the City’s Housing and Licenses & Inspections Committee last Wednesday.

The Delaware group will protest at the Sheriff’s Sale, to be held in the Louis L. Redding City/County Building, and then head down to the JPMorgan Chase Bank headquarters at 201 N Walnut St #2, Wilmington, DE. They will assemble at their Spencer Plaza Encampment between 8th and 9th Streets on French at 9:30 a.m.

Damn. I live not far from Wilmington. I wish I would have been in the state today or I would have made an effort to go to the protest. However, my parents needed my assistance at their home in Pennsylvania. Let us know how it goes.
