Where have you gone nude in public where nudity is neither expected or allowed. And what were you doing? I myself wash my car naked go hiking naked, and drive through busy streets naked. I think I'll try a naked stroll down a busy street.

I go naked in public places in Spain where there is little chance of getting lynched our burnt at the stake. In my country England you go to jail, especially if you are a man.

definitely can be a risky business depending on where you live or visiting. I agree that the degree of disgust by some people of nudist are different for naked men and for women.
Such a shame since being nude is liberating and comfortable.
NG you are brave or you live on the moon!

sadly, there is a different response between seeing a naked girl and a naked guy in public. I've been considered daring; but the guys I've talked to said they'd be arrested if they did the same things. The few times the police have confronted us (I'm usually with one of my girlfriends) they just tell us to put some clothes on. We do, and they leave us alone.

Yes it really is too bad. But I like your spirit and am glad you can get away with it. I am just careful and hike or beach in areas I know I have to myself

My bestie and I are always careful. We don't do anything naked in public that we wouldn't do if dressed.

i guess this depends a lot on the circumstances, the social setting and how the male one behaves. I think there is no legal reason to get arrested as long as you don't do something criminal (at least in the western world). For example i've walked kms along the beach with my bf both butt naked without getting any trouble - but of course we shun the crowded stretches just at the dune passages and the parking lots inland, where all the families populate the beach.

Agree Pixy...I also think that there is a difference in whether there is just a naked guy, or a naked couple. Also, how differently would society view 2 naked guys walking around as opposed to 2 naked girls?

I agree. It's difficult for both sexes to be openly naked, but it's more difficult for males as there's always an assumption of sexual deviancy, whereas in fact all I genuinely want to do is catch some rays and get some air round my bod :). I suppose I am relatively lucky though cos I have a secluded garden and am also a member of a naturist club. I stopped going to naturist beaches as they seem to be full of men who just stand there staring around (presumably in the hope of...heaven forbid...spotting a naked female...I guess this kind of negates my first sentence!). I suppose because I have these opportunities to get naked, I don't think about it in other places (apart from going barefoot pretty much everywhere).

For some reason, our society views a naked or partially naked female as acceptable but a nude male is not.

It could be that, or maybe when you read about naked women in public, you're reading fiction.

What ought to be most obvious is that if you're in doubt about what a person says on the Internet, you'll never be able to prove anything and nor can they. So you can be skeptical but never sure.

Healthy skepticism is good. And Amontillado; guessing you've never seen a naked girl in public before. Yes, it is quite rare... But those of us who do, are just a small number of those who would like to. I was raised by parents who are OK with nudity. And although they don't practice it themselves, they're OK with me doing so. I learned that being naked isn't about sex, as much as it is about being comfortable and free. PeaceāœŒ

I share Amontillado's scepticism, but accept that it may well be true in your case. And your last sentence above is so true. There ARE opportunities for both sexes to be naked if you seek them out. I belong to a naturist club. To be honest I thought about it for years but was scared to go. Now I'm a regular I regret not going years ago. There is something so freeing, empowering and comfortable about socialising, dancing and drinking completely naked with no one batting an eyelid. And there is no obligation to be naked, you can be as clothed or as unclothed as you wish. No one cares. The males do not walk around with a permanent erection, no female is molested, everyone can just be themselves. If only society in general were like this :). And no, I'm not making this up!

I once sunbathed naked in my back garden and within 15 minutes there was banging on the door, two police officers standing there, there proceeded to lecture me on why they think naked men are perverts, some old lady saw me and complained. Fucking annoying, one reason i moved from that house...

That's really rubbish, HW. I'd be mortified if that happened to me. What a complete waste of police resources, and why two of them! What on earth did they think you were going to do! It's that same old deeply flawed Victorian thinking, ie naked=pervert. It makes no logical sense! Hope you are left alone where you are now.

Nudist resorts are fine for those who like them, but they're places to be nude in private, not nude in public. In fact "public" is a slippery concept--does it mean a place where people are free to go, but you can check it out enough to be fairly sure that you won't be seen? Or does it mean a place where you very likely will meet strangers? I've found secluded spots to go skinny-dipping (often in mixed company) and I've been to nude beaches alone and with friends, but I'd call them two kinds of "public". And I've spent a few days driving around visiting swimming holes, naked a lot of the time, with a mixed male-female group. But our group does wrap up in towels (more or less) when we're getting in and out of the car.

Horsewarrior, you could have told the policemen that nudity isn't against the law in England, and they were insulting you with all that nonsense about "perverts". Anyway, I hope you live in a more friendly location now.

I've gone to nude beaches, of course, but also nude camping; and at festivals on the streets of San Francisco where/when it is legal.
