the concept of nothing theoretically cannot exist, if you have an object and cut it it half then cut that half in half and keep going you can cut for an eterninty and still have something left to cut in half. The piece may be too smal to view with the eye but it is still there and could be cut in half. This is why i believe that there is no such thing as nothing.
no I have never tried, but, if something is 1/2 an inch and you cut that into 1/4 inch and that into 1/8 then 1/16 and so on and so forth the number will get smaller but that fraction of the object will always be there.
Whether or not nothing exists is something no one will ever know. For if one were to experience nothing, that in itself would eliminate their experience for once a person is within nothing, they create something (or someone). So, yes, I agree, to us nothing doesn't exist. Only to nothing does nothing exist.
If you want a real mind clusterfuck, try reading Martin Heidegger's essay called "What is Metaphysics?" He thinks the following is a meaningful sentence: "The nothing nothings." What ya reckon that means?
no thing is no focus . a thing is the result of choosing a focus . no focus - then no thing , or the assumed everything indisible . of course no thing can exist . just don't think about it .
Theoretically, nothing can ever hit the ground when it is dropped, because of your same theory. It has to drop half of the distance to the ground, then half of that distance, then half of that distance and so on.
i remember seeing this on bill nye the science guy. i think he cut the cheese. heh, heh. yes, i agree with you. but also, if there is no nothing, there is nothing to compare something to. so something cannot exist, because how would you define something? it's the thing that is when there are other things that aren't, right? so there IS nothing, including nothingness. nothingness may not exist, but neither does somethingness.
Bill nye is the best educational show ever. Maybe the best show ever. When I'm completely ripped in science, and the teacher says "okay, we're gonna watch bill nye," I get so excited, its insane. Its such a trip, even sober. ...shutup I'm not a loser.
nothing....it is a noun....a word, an identity....wich is the only thing something has to have to exist... problem solved....
Tisn't only a noun in the "the nothing nothing's" sentence. My question is, is emptiness the same as nothingness?
