Hi there HipForums! I hope you're all enjoying the present moment in which you find yourself! I am intechnicolor, and I apparently joined here about 7 years ago or so (it doesn't surprise me, but y'know how it goes). When I was younger, I was a part of some really cool internet communities, and, perhaps it may just be nostalgia, I find myself looking for that again. The sorts of connections that can be made through this medium can be great, and I have to say that I'm looking forward to posting around and meeting you fine folks!

    A little about me:
I play music in a couple different bands and projects. Musically ranging from Funk/Space/Jam to Blues, Singer-Songwriter, and adding more to my repertoire of styles. I am more or less based on improvisation, using what I know to express the moment. I don't get too much time for other things anymore, as I work full-time, 40 hours a week, and then play and kind of manage 2 of the bands I am in 5-6 out of the 7 days of the week. I enjoy film, and great cinematography, paired with a solid screenplay. I recently stopped smoking cigarettes cold turkey 20 days ago. Consciousness fascinates me, and I enjoy exploring it. I have spent ~18hrs in a sensory deprivation tank, spaced out over 10 sessions over this last year. I dabble in things.

Haha thanks! The tank had always held this sort of mystique to me ever since I watched Altered States when I was about 15. There is nothing to be afraid of, as all that exists in that space is your mind. There is about 10-12" of water with ~1000lb of Epsom Salt, heated to body temperature; no light; ears underwater/possibly with earplugs (recommended). Because of these conditions, your brain is freed up from all of the processes that are continuously running like a computer to accommodate to the effects of gravity on our bodies. Our brains begin producing beta waves, which generally normally occurs when we are just falling asleep and waking. This state is extremely useful and pliable to any intention you may have, be it problem solving, meditating, super-learning, learning the processes of your internal system, metaprogramming yourself to make proper changes that fulfill one's self-realization, etc.

I hope I didn't rant too hard. The tank has helped me in many ways.

    :(

I'm not sure that NoxiousGas meant it in that way. Of course, I'm only speaking from my perception and interpretation. What I think NoxiousGas meant was that a person could benefit greatly by spending conscious time with the Self, such as in meditation. I don't think they meant that you should be alone, as in shutting yourself off or isolating yourself in your daily life. Loneliness sucks, and we all suffer from it. Luckily, this isn't the kind of alone-ness that the tank deals with, if that makes sense. If you ever need a friend to talk to, feel free to PM me! I, too, know what it's like to be, and feel alone, and don't mind some interaction.

than do you subject yourself to brutal honesty as if nobody is around to applaud your sanctimonious attitude?

    I doubt you "get it"

but I still love your input and interaction in this community and I learn from you.
Drop your shields and assumptions so you can learn from me as well.

I have considered it, but like anything, it takes practice. I have eaten 100mg edibles + tincture in the tank for 3.5 hrs. The next few times I go, I will experiment and report back on both ketamine, and another session with perhaps a microdose of LSD (practice, to start off). The most I am able to float at any given time is 12 hrs, and it would cost me a little. If I had the space, I would consider buying one. I appreciate Lilly's work, and have read a few of his books. I admire his tenacity in exploring the psyche and respect him immensely for mapping out a lot the processes of our inner-workings.

nice, 12 hours, that is a pretty long stretch.
would love if you reported your experiences.
I also wish I had the resources to have a tank.
Where do you go that has one?

I live in Ohio, and go to a place called Gravity Spa, down by Dayton. There are now places a little closer to my location, but I'd rather drive the 2.5hrs to have the option of a sliding time scale. I'll definitely report and share some experiences!

    Aww, hey now, you're awesome!
