Hi, well the title basically says it all.

I am interested in meeting other musicians. I play the guitar, mainly 1960s music.

I am interested in meeting like minded people from Melbourne.

This is me, taken a few days ago...

Yesterday I returned to street perform at Southbank, after a break since like August 2009 I think when I was there last. With a new guitar and harps this time, a better suited set of music, I am pleased how it went. I don't really call what I do busking as I don't put my guitar case out and I don't solicit money. I simply perform the songs.

    My set consists of:

    Love Minus Zero/No Limit
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
    Chimes of Freedom (includes harp)
    Mr. Tambourine Man (includes harp)
    Like A Rolling Stone

My style is a mix of Bob Dylan (folk, pre electric 1965) and Joan Baez, in that I cover Bob's songs but do so fingerpicking as Joan does. Well I improvise the fingerpicking. My set lasts about an hour.

I am still learning and can only really play Mr. Tambourine Man without reference to my notes on my guitar, paper in a plastic sleeve. I find that useful against stage fright, distraction and forgetting.

In her early days Joan used to take a break mid way through songs to refresh, as it is a bit daunting playing in public.

I think once personal music playing reaches a certain level, that it is best played where it can be shared.

I've got my name down with the City of Melbourne and will likely attend events to play. I think street performers are classified as part of the culture of the city, which amuses me a little as I consider myself European and play American music.

I am by no means any good. I would only say that I enjoy the music and play it for that reason alone.

I would be interested to read from others performing in public.

@ white dove - how is the guitar playing going? What kind of guitar do you have?

@ ZiggyZuZu - I plan to move to Tas when I am able, as Melb summers are too hot for my liking, though this summer it never really got past the feel of a six month spring. Still I think Tas is more suited to me.

This Wednesday, 20 April 2011, Bob Dylan will be playing in Melbourne, here:

    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&biw=1680&bih=857&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=rod+laver+arena&fb=1&gl=au&hq=rod+laver+arena&hnear=Melbourne+VIC&cid=0,0,12023404017937101153&ei=F1mrTZSQE4HGvQPr1rGRCg&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=6&ved=0CEMQnwIwBQ

This morning I will be playing about a kilometer to the west, here:

    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?num=20&hl=en&safe=off&biw=1680&bih=857&q=melbourne+southbank&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Southbank+VIC&gl=au&ei=AVarTbP7MYyGvgPkvpWOCg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CCUQ8gEwAA

My Dylan like performance is free ... I sing out of tune, forget some lyrics, but it is real folk like music. Acoustic guitar, improvised fingerpicking. A blend of Dylan and Baez.

    Alternatively ...

A small figure on a distant stage, with electric amplified music for which you get to pay.

    ...

    My current set includes:

    Strawberry Fields Forever - Lennon
All Along The Watchtower - Dylan
    Subterranean Homesick Blues - Dylan
Chimes of Freedom (includes Harp) - Dylan
Mr Tambourine Man (includes Harp) - Dylan
Like A Rolling Stone - Dylan

I am considering adding in the near future:

    Imagine - Lennon
The Long and Winding Road - Lennon/ McCartney (this sounds really nice)

    test out

    Hey Jude

    previous playlist songs

Love Minus Zero/No Limit - Dylan
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue - Dylan
    Purple Haze - Hendrix
