Nonsense World

What if the two hemispheres of the brain exist for two mirror universes, and we are just the split in the middle reaching out to them? One is logical and one is random, and we can't figure out how this could be the case, so our existence will never make sense?

Nothing would make sense from the get-go in this world, so there's nothing about this world that could really disprove the possibility. Even if something seemed to make sense and described our existences, this wouldn't disprove the possibility, because it wouldn't make sense that you had perfectly described it in a way that it actually isn't. It's always possible that it's just more nonsense, in other words.

well, no one is in the position to know for sure. are they?

  3. No...it would be weird, though.

Alright... So... You're saying that the two halves of the brain are linked to different universes...

Well.. Who knows, you could be right... I mean.. Some people say that dreams are really just you traveling to different astral planes...

But then, this other plane is limitless, and sometimes is the same.. But if that were truly the case, then how could you have a recurring dream? Unless of course time as we know it has no meaning anywhere other than "here"....

  5. Time would not have the same meaning, since time, as we know it, operates in one world and not two. But if this one world is actually the combination of two distinct realms, being experienced via a third realm of existence, there's nothing you can say about either realm independently and how time operates there, if it operates at all, or if time is something created by the conjoining of the two worlds. Indeed, if this is the case, there's nothing absolute you can say about reality at all, since it would partly be an abstraction, and you can't know what that means logically.

But it's kind of hard for me to understand exactly what you mean.

I suggest picking up medicine book.

  7. That wouldn't have anything to do with the reality of whether or not we lived in such a state.

This hypothesis isn't anti-medicine or anti-science in any way. Things work in that they work...this just doesn't speak to the underlying reality of the world in any way. It's not like all doctors are determinists.

Is anyone familiar with Timothy Leary's 8 circuit model of consciousness. Maybe The left hemisphere contains the first 4 more logical circuits and the right contains the last 4 more abstract circuits.

  9. I haven't, but I know the brain is divided into logical and random. Maybe even the twin sides are an illusion, as thin as a mirror (or a mirrorlike state of being.)

I submit that we do know that something abstract from us or our bodies does exist in the universe. Our environment exists as something non-subjective. It's completely abstract, therefore.

    ...or is it?!

Meaningful coincidence would make sense in such a world, since everything would literally be a coinciding of two distinct worlds.

It makes sense. So can that be why we have an ego trying to find balance in an unbalancable world?

    This.

  13. The only time I ever tried LSD was years ago. It was at my peers' behest and nothing happened that couldn't have been explained by the fact that I was completely stoned. It was a bad batch.

To me too. It could be. It could explain schizophrenia, if the two halves are coincidental and the ego can influence the abstract half. Your paranoias could reaffirm themselves in the outer environment, true or not, but seem to reinforce a separate identity from your true identity. Perhaps the bridge itself lies at the pituitary gland, but of course you couldn't look at this outside form, the gland itself, to see its underlying source. There would be a complete separation between form and substance.

I haven't delved that far into physics, but think about matter/anti-matter too.

    From Wiki:

Now imagine there really is an abstract world as well. I can imagine matter becoming a sort of reflection in this mirror, and it would only be dictated by our familiarity with matter, like a phantom memory. Pure speculation, of course, but it's fun to think about. I've been having fun thinking about it, anyway.

  14. And what if time is also abstract, or we actually are time, and therefore there is no beginning or end, and time is the same thing as light...? It interacts with an imaginary world and a real world, and tries to meld them together, but never can give it any meaning, except in itself. The stars that exploded out of the big bang were actually us, explaining why we're "made of star stuff" and why people see a light at death (returning to the source, the big bang) and report being "outside of the universe."

And light is so spectacular at processing the information, between the real world and the abstract, that when it implodes (returns to the source on its own time) it leaves an area where nothing makes sense (i.e. the abstract world) and the outer rim where physics still applies. A black hole. It has ventured, and it doesn't matter whether it's intentionally or not, into planets and bodies, still trying to grasp how the two could be one. But finally it grew into something with two halves of the brain, one for each purpose, and now I've finally figured it all out!

And the reason some animals reproduce asexually and some reproduce sexually is because the sexual ones further used the abstract world to try and understand itself, as two distinct things becoming one.

Nah.... Now it's gone too far....

  16. I'm not telling you what conclusions to draw from the initial theory that we're experiencing two separate worlds. But it would make sense that the symbolic idea of two separate worlds would be found everywhere, right down to our D.N.A.!!!

Just imagine, two separate strands of life, spiraling around each other, confusing their own places, reaching out between the gap to connect. It all makes sense!!!

But just what is the nature of an illusion...a true illusion... Does the best illusion come from a place that can never be seen, or does the nature of an illusion mean that it can be seen? I'm kind of unhappy with the idea that the two abstract universes are evident in the behavior of nature, as well. Maybe that's too much speculation on something that is cool just being mysterious.

ah well, i wouldn't be quick to equate division of labor with division of universes. it is possible we experience more then two, but this is not likely mappable to hemispheres of the brain.

  18. I'm not quick to. I was sort of trying to make a joke, too.

It's kind of a cliche, I think, but I also find the idea interesting. That it wouldn't be sensible to try and map the nonsense world would make perfect sense. It's just fascinating to me to ponder upon this, the possibility that I'm experiencing two distinct realms that never quite fit together despite all appearances, and whose only real connection is me.
