    A red flag on FB is if woman has a heap of male friends and not a one single female friend or a man does not have one single male friend.

    Catfishing at end of the day is fraud and often extorting of money is undertaken .

    This is from Age UK ,which is a charity organisation set up to help elderly people

    "Catfishing is when someone sets up a fake online profile to trick people who are looking for love, usually to get money out of them. "

    6 signs someone might be a catfish
    1. You've searched their name on the internet but they don't seem to exist. Or they do, but the photos don't match the photos on their dating profile.
    2. They're asking for money early into your relationship. They might be saying it's to come and visit you.
    3. They're telling you they love you, but you've only been talking for a couple of days or weeks.
    4. They're avoiding face-to-face contact, either meeting up or video chats.
    5. They're just a little bit too perfect.
    6. Their stories sometimes conflict with each other, or don't quite add up.

    I found out this week one my FB friends, Fred Charlotte was a fake. Using the pics of pornstar Maitland Ward. Not only is this a breach of copyright but playing with peoples' hearts. Despicable behavior.

    Stealing a person's identity or pic is one thing, pretending to be another sex is something else.

    But here on Hip Forums, because everyone is ANONYMOUS, you can expect people to pretend to be something they're not.

    We DO NOT VET personal identities here (now that a few overly zealous, paranoid mods are gone for that reason as you can see above).
    That is WHAT IS COOL about HF as opposed to FB. You don't have to give us your personal details, only an email addy to be here.

    And if you're so paranoid that someone is not who they pretend to be and see everyone as a potential stalker, then you REALLY shouldn't be on Social Networks at all!

    If you feel someone is stalking you, just report them to a mod and they'll be dealt with. We don't need to find out who they really are to ban them.
