99.99% of society drinks. They conform, their genes mutate and they pass that on from generation to generation. More people than ever are drinking alcohol(ethanol, deathanol). What ever happened to all those hippies who never drank booze and tripped instead? Hippies and peace and hallucination with shrooms and acid. People lost their inner hippie and rather get pissed on alcohol and cause violence and conformity to spead. People used to protest if they felt something was wrong. Now they decide to just sit on a couch, drink beers or wine coolers and forget about the important issues. It's all very depressing sometimes. Nothing but conformist and people who want to conform. Why do people keep drinking the governmental kool-aid? Now hippies are viewed as a pest and the semi-alcoholics and the drinkers celebrate when they get beaten, tortured, or gunned down. What has society come to!? They put ethanol in gasoline. The people might as well drink gasoline. Alcohol(ethanol) is also more harmful than certain lab solvents, like propanol and 2-methyl-2-butanol. Why must the goal of society be conformism instead of learning and peace!?

That is one long lasting conspiracy. We're talking an almost 10,000 year old conspiracy.

    Sigh.

Okay, in (very) short. I used to drink. I don't drink anymore. I have no desire to drink. I think alcohol is poison and see a lot of wrong in it....

HOWEVER, I don't care if other people drink. And I don't know why it bothers you so much if other people drink? I mean, who gives a shit.
You'd rather everyone who drinks starts eating acid instead?? *hides*---seriously that might be scary.

Alcohol is a poison. It's true.

    Your body doesn't want it.

But it can handle it in small amounts.

Ahhh, I see where you are going with this now and I think you're being a bit misleading and, perhaps, disingenuous. Damn near anything can be a "poison" if it is ingested excessively. As you said, though, it all comes down to the amount. I've heard the phrase "the dosage makes the poison". Using the same, broad interpretation of what a poison is that you're using, things like water, salt and other common things can also be called "poisons".

I'm pretty sure the other fact they made up isn't true either.
Europe didn't even start to sober up and have coffee or tea till the mid 17th century.

Some people like to believe that 'They' have been around and controlling us since pre-Babylon. Maybe that's where OP is coming from. If it's not, then they really gotta look past the noses of thier own damn century. Either way, it's still a load of shit.

Yes, but your body does not need alcohol like it does the other things you mentioned and sorry, there really is no way around the fact that alcohol, any amount of alcohol, does physiological damage to internal organs. That has been so irrevocably proven that to even question it is folly.
Granted there are many other things in our common diet that also do as much damage, refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, caffeine, etc., but that is not the topic of this thread.

It cannot be denied that alcohol and caffeine have become the sanctioned sedative and stimulant drugs by governments worldwide, with
tobacco third in the running as a combo drug, stimulant/relaxant.

Any type of psychedelic or similar substance has historically and currently been demonized and it's users persecuted.

In those respects I understand what the OP is saying and agree.

Someone can claim it's "nut-bag conspiracy" all they want, but history tells a different story.

Any amount? Do you have a source? I am just saying it cannot be considered a poison, scientifically speaking, any more than almost anything else.

No, history doesn't tell a different story, I'm afraid.

Yea, true but if you drank the same amount of alcohol and the same amount of water the alcohol would turn into a poison all the quicker.

And really what I meant was... of course alcohol can be healthy if you drink one or two drinks a day, there are even health benefits. But when you drink any more than that it puts a strain on your liver to filter out the factors in it that work as a poison...I don't think drinking four cups of water a day put a strain on your liver..

You guys are forgetting an important factor, your bodies ability to handle, compensate and repair the damage.

The "recommended" limit of 2-3 drinks is based on what your system can efficiently handle without risk of permanent damage, it does not mean no damage is being done until you hit some magic number of drinks.
The magic number of drinks is when the amount of alcohol overwhelms your bodies ability to metabolize it, during which metabolism alcohol is broken down into Acetaldehyde, which is very toxic in general and a proven teratogenic.

Woman suffer about 30% more damage due to lacking an enzyme that speeds the metabolism of alcohol, so ladies keep that in mind. ;)

Alcohol has for millenia been the promoted substance of intoxication while psychedelics were reserved for the religious elite and use by common folk was very often punishable by death.
There have been periods of time when alcohol or caffeine or tobacco were deemed illegal, but when considering the overall scope of known human history, my initial premise holds up as true.

    Yeah, that is true.
And actually I think for women they tell you not to have more than one drink a day and for men it's 2-3.
