    Found someone's cell phone last night.

    Normally I would call the first # on the menu to let somebody know
    I have it so the owner could call me and get it back but it seems like lately everytime I do a good deed I kicked in the balls for it so I'm stalling.

    If you stall then they could frieze the number. Then you would be doing a bad deed by not calling soon enough. If I hadn't told you and you didn't know it would be out of ignorance and not count as a bad deed though.

    You could turn it in to the police, and they could find the owner instead of you.
    Someone "found" my hubby's wallet once, and they kept calling and demanding money for it. I believe his words were "Fuck Off." :)

    Wow, that sucks, to be extorted for your own wallet, especially knowing that those shitpile people know who you are, then.

    I hope your husband told them what kind of piece-of-shit people they were to be demanding payment for the kind of good deed that people should do out of kindness. Hopefully no one will ever do anything nice for such people for the rest of their lives until/unless they change. :$

    I guess I have the selflessness gene when it comes to helping people out when they have misfortune like that.

    BTW, take everything out of your wallet and lay it on a photocopier, then flip the cards and copy the backs too (the backs usually have the 800 numbers).

    Keep the copies safe at home, and if you ever lose your wallet, rush home and call all those numbers. This will also help you to remember which membership cards you had and need to replace. :)

    hm....

    I'd give the phone back. Random acts of kindness are nice... unfortunately a lot of those things get unrewarded.

    That sucks that the universe keeps punishing you for goodness... maybe you're being tested... go on, give it back - what's the worst that could happen??

    Anyway, by Mother Teresa
    People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
    Forgive them anyway.
    .
    If you are kind people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
    Be kind anyway.
    .
    If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
    Succeed anyway.
    .
    If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
    Be honest and frank anyway.
    .
    What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
    Build anyway.
    .
    If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
    Be happy anyway.
    .
    The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
    Do good anyway.
    .
    Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
    Give the world the best you've got anyway.
    .
    You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
    It was never between you and them anyway.
