The next piercing I want is my nipple.I want them both done eventually...but anyway, some questions... ~Does it hurt as bad as I heard? I heard it was REALLY painful and then really uncomfortable during healing... ~What does the aftercare involve and what would I keep it clean with? ~During healing,do I need to wear a bra or not? Thanks...anything else you can tell me will be greyt!
It hurts. Yes indeedily. But not terribly so. Different than a tattoo kind of hurt. Think about the last time you got a bigass needle. A little more painful than that, but not enough to pass out from or anything. Then again, I can usually deal with pain just fine if I know it's coming, rather than suprise pain aftercare is usually cleaning it twice a day with salt water... warm/hot water in two cups (well, one per nipple) with salt in it (not table salt, you piercer will tell you the measurements too), invert over nipples and hold until until the water is about room temp again. DON'T play with them too much! Especially if you get rings... playing with them can make them more prone to rejection because you're tearing at the skin more than necessary (hey, it's what happened to me) Bra's if you feel like it. I did... I had a bra with a little extra padding (hydralift) and it was the comfiest bra ever with it... mostly because I was working in a place where I did have to lift and carry stuff, usually by holding it close to my torso/chest and the pressure, especially right after piercing, was really uncomfortable without that padding to protect it. I'm sure you can go without, I just felt better with one Just make sure you do clean it exactly as your piercer said to, and don't play with them too much. Keep an eye on them in case they do start to reject (they do for a lot of people, that's just life), and get them pierced with a bar instead of a ring (heals better generally speaking)
Some cases happen though, where sensitive nerve endings are severed and loss of sensation. I don't know how rare that is but it's like when you get your tongue pierced. They should tell you of the negatives as well as the positives. Personally, i think it would feel better when my partner sucks on my nipples without hardware, and i know he wouldn't like the obstruction. While nipple rings are fun and groovy, beware of the consequences. Read the following as this happened in a similar to way to somene i know. http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/08-nipple/970801/nipmas.html
Yeah, bars are better. And everything ihmurria about aftercare sounds pretty correct. Only thing I have to say is that pain is different for everyone. Your tolerance can be good and it won't hurt as much. I don't think piercings hurt that bad anywhere, though they are worse than tattoos.
well, i'm a guy so it is probably a bit different but I had them both done almost two weeks ago. Everyone made it out to be so much more painful than it is, it's over before you even know it. The following days, they were kind of sore, but not unbearable. I have been cleaning with dial once a day, then a couples times a day with a spray solution called htocean. It was included with the piercing, so i might as well use it. It isnt really painful anymore unless im cleaning it. In my opinion it is definitely worth it, and that's what most people say who have had it done. good luck.
i would have to dissagree about the bars are better thing. while they will not snag on things as much, they are not really the best jewelry for the inital piercing. wearing barbells will make them harder to clean, especially while they are sensitive. around the balls will be very difficult to clean, and this can harbor bacteria. i always recommend, rings to start, after healed, go to bars.
you just have to get slightly longer bars than your nipples actually are. Rings, because of how they curve, make the skin much more likely to reject than a straight bar. Believe me, I went through a rejection (took them out before any serious damage, but still), and I've heard from many different sources that bars are less likely to be rejected by the skin.
i dont see how the slight curve in a ring would cause a rejection. if anything it would be something like the bra pushing on the ring that would cause the pressure.
because the needle is straight, but the curve of the ring pulls at the skin. Yeah, a bra with a ring will probably exacerbate any rejection, but the main problem is that the metal isn't the same shape as the wound, which means it doesn't always heal that great. Not that it won't heal if your body isn't opposed to piercings, but bars tend to heal faster and better
i don't really know much about bars vs rings, however every piercing location that I've been to recommends rings for the first three monthes.
hmm. straight bars arent the shape of the wound either. the only way to get a straight tube for a wound is dermal punching. peircing needles make a cresent shaped wound. so by your logic, we should be wearing crecent shaped jewelry. almost like if you cut a straw in half, the long way. one thing i totally forgot to add is WHY its so important for female nipple piercings to be very clean. haha, i should probably explain why i insist on rings so much. the reason why they need to be clean is the risk of infection. while you may be saying 'duh' to your self, keep in mind where nipples go. bacteria can build up in side of the milk ducts in the nipples. if the bacteria accumulates to much, it can cause an infection, and the infection can, and WILL travel inward down the milk duct to inside the breast. when it builds up a lot, it will then create a small abcess in side of the breast, and the infection will force its self to the outside of the breast. this is called mastitis. when i first heard about this, i thought it was a very rare thing. then a friend of mine got it. and yes, it really is as nasty as that picture (see link) makes it seem. very very sudden, and very very painful (according to her). *LINK IS NOT WORK SAFE, PICTURE OF GROSS BOOBIE INFECTION* http://encyc.bmezine.com/?Mastitis
I have always heard bars are better for healing too. A ring is easier to clean, but a ring pulls down on the piercing and makes it more likely to reject. That is the way it was explained to me.
It initially hurts when you get it done like every piercing but afterwards it throbs...i prefer the bars they get caught on less..
