http://www.nbc4i.com/news/3983795/detail.html At Least 5 Dead, 2 Wounded In Nightclub Shooting Witnesses: Alleged Gunman Went Onto Stage, Fired Shots POSTED: 10:32 pm EST December 8, 2004 UPDATED: 1:13 am EST December 9, 2004 COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At least five people died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a Columbus nightclub on Wednesday night, television station WCMH reported. The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, located at 5055 Sinclair Rd. Two members of the heavy metal band Damageplan were reportedly shot and killed, including Dimebag Darrell, formerly with the band Pantera, the station reported. The other band member's name was not released. The alleged gunman also died at the scene, according to police. Shortly after the band began playing its first song, a man apparently ran onto the stage and began shooting, according to a witness who identified himself as Sean. At first, some members of the audience may have thought the man running onto the stage with a gun was part of the band's act, WCMH reported. Witnesses said that several shots were fired at the band. A bouncer at the club tackled the alleged gunman before that person was shot and killed, according to witnesses. It was unclear who shot the alleged gunman. Of the surviving victims, one person was in critical condition while the other was in fair condition, the station reported. Several others were treated at the scene, suffering from various injuries. Alrosa Villa is a popular north Columbus nightspot for young adults, featuring rock and heavy metal bands. According to the band's Web site, Damageplan was touring nationally. It performed in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday night and had a concert scheduled in Chicago on Friday. Damageplan featured former Pantera artists Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The pair were joined by vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bobzilla, according to their Web site. Distributed by Internet Broadcasting Systems, Inc. what??????? dimebag darrel is dead????????? yeah, audience usually think that anything is part of the act..... hell if a bomb went off on stage, or in the crowd, people would still cheer, because they think its all part of the heavy metal show. there would be dismembered arms and crap flying through the air, and they would think its the coolest thing theyve ever seen. too bad dimebag had to die, I was just starting to get into his music.
I just remembered that john lennon was shot on this same day, so could it be a coincidence.??? dimebag and john lennon both shot on the same day??? 24 years apart?? hmm....
i want a generation to put violence in the past.. but i dont think its going to happen. we look at so many thigns as being primitive (being dirty, messy, rude, stupid) or old fashioned (funny, that we put many thigns to do with politeness and respect behind us) yet violence is still just a normal tjhing. people concentrate too much on wars when they talk about world peace. i think the bigger killer is just every day, street or gang or criminal violence that goes on within the very countries we are meant to be fighting for. the world should spend less time keeping its civil laws maintained and spend more time saving lives by reducing high level violence. im not one to oppose fights between two game people, but anything involving death, or unfair attacks is what i see as the worst violence at the same time, i dont think you should turn teh other cheek. unfortunately however, the generations of today look at hippies and laugh. the term 'peace man' is used more often in a comical rendition of a hippy than in a genuine gesture. the idea that the ideas of peace and stuff should prevail is now seen as the idea of the naive. we should stop bothering with this peace shit and get on with advancing our own lives. right? its right if thats how everyone thinks. im one who genuinely would spend one of my three wishes on ensuring humans dont destroy themselves (though, i dont think i would wish for world peace directly, for there may be better things in the future that would not be found in a society of no killing, but i wish that the 'age of aquarius' does come, at minimal cost). humans lives really are worth little in teh scheme of things. we should change our way of living so this simply isnt the case. oh look i went off on a rant again
uhh, are you retarded?? if you switch 24 around, you get 42, not 420. you cant switch two numbers around and get three.
I have attended a few shows at the Alrosa...I actually saw Limp Bizkit there once before they hit it big. I could of walked up on the stage and slapped Fred Durst. A very informal place with no barriers between the crowd and the band. The place is about 15 minutes away from where I work. Some radio reports were saying that the gunman was angered by Pantera's break-up and that he blamed "Dimebag". Hard to say, but we're being flooded with all kinds of news reports today on the local stations. Sad scene.
Heard this on the radio this morning... didn't know that Dimebag Darrell was in the mix though... that's sad Doesn't this just give overprotective parents more power to condemn heavy metal?? i.e. "Now young man, you don't want to listen to heavy metal, or you'll wind up gunned-down..."
This is terrible. I loved Pantera, and also damageplan. How could this happen. Why the hell do all the musicians that I love always die. WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!? I read this this morning when I first woke up and could have cried. I wonder who the other band member is.
Your mom woke you up and informed you that Dimebag Darrell had been shot and killed? That's hilarious! Was she all torn up over it? Did she tell you immediately? Or did she wait until you got out of bed? I gotta know the context because I just can't stop cracking up at the thought of my mom giving me such news first thing in the morning, or at all for that matter. Is she a Pantera fan?
