Want to watch a tv show so scary, you'll literally crap your pants? Night Gallery then is the show for you. It ran on NBC 1970 to'73. I'm too young to remember the original run. But I saw all the repeats. Witches, monsters and animated corpses. My favorite, is the one where a young man is forced to eat part of a corpse. I esp. like it how the repeats, at least, came on late at night. I was still in high school. And I know it must've given me nightmares. I'm curious. Does anyone else remember watching Night Gallery? I think it's available on DVD now.
There was one episode that I kind of remember where something was chasing someone down a long hallway. As it came closer, the lights went out above it, one by one, so that you couldn't see it. I can't remember what the thing was, or what happened in the end. But to this day, long hallways like that make me remember that scene, and it still scares the hell out of me thinking about it.
It was called "The Sin Eater". It took place in a relatively small village and there was a man who would eat a meal placed around the dead person and as he ate the food, he took on all the sins of that person and the agony of those sins upon himself. The twist was that it was passed on from father to son, and one day the father died and the son had to "eat" his father's sins, along with all the sins that had been eaten for how ever many generations it has been in their blood line. You get the impression they were not the happiest family. I remember the guy going into the room and when he started to eat he began to howl with pain and agony. That one episode stuck in my mind as well. :2thumbsup: and yes. I remember watching them new as a kid.
