i'm severley physicaly adiiceted to nicoteine. I was recently diagbosed with CPOD (compromised pulminary obstructive disoreder, or whatever it stands for). I was at a pack and a half a day at the time. Strangley enough I've actually increased my cigarrete smoking sense the diagnosis, because of anxiety about it. ANy sane normal person, (which I sure as hell am not) would dramaticlly cut down (if not quit) their cigarette smoking if they wanted to live. I want to live, but I can't seem to stop. I've been smoking for 5 years and i'm in my late teens.
I know you all hate me, but does anyone have any SERIOUS advice about how to significantly cut down or quit smoking?

Switch to menthol ultra lights until you get adjusted to that, then go and find some mentholated toothpicks.
I have a buddy who actually quit successfully with that.

i kinda quit with a technique similar to that... i smoke newports and parliment menthol lights... so when i started quitting i always chewed on strong minty gum.... like orbits or dentine ice... and it helped me alot... i went 4 months without smoking... had some stress from work.. smoked for a week... realized how much it was winding me.. and making me weak.. so i stopped again... 2 weeks and goin strong again...

wow, you sound very extreme...i guess the most effective way to quit smoking is simply wanting to do it. It's all up to willpower. if you're not ready to give it up, it will be harder than anything...maybe you dont really want to quit, according the post that seems about right. i tried quitting smoking three times before and let me tell you, withdrawal symptoms...not nice! these come straight after you finish a cigarrete, your body gets its nicotine fix, but this is quickly absorbed and processed and so it starts again, its literally a vicious circle, thats why its so hard to quit.

you know, its not impossible. you only have to be in the right state of mind and you will make it. first start questioning the reasons why you smoke and the reasons why you shouldnt. you see that the reasons that say you should are only production of your addiction, and as with any addiction, the addcit will prefer this to the reasons why they shouldnt smoke.

besides, its easier to keep this routine, its easier to make excuses about why i dont give up instead of being honest and up front and say "because i'm a weak person, i let an addiction control and manipulate the way i live my every day life"...

think about it, picture a whole day without a cigarrete...what would happen? would it be the same? of course not, now the question is..are you willing to make some changes?

if you are...its only up to you to make them possible.

Every time you feel like smoking a cigarette, smoke a bowl of weed.

I was actually going to suggest this until I read this post. ;)

That's what I refer to as the "Stone Yourself to Death Quit Program," but evidently I'm not the only one who advocates it. =)

this would actually work, however it would even better if you burnt yourself on the palm every time you smoke a cigarette. it really would work. probably rather quickly too. but you gotta smoke teh cigarette too, and try to make sure its a really light cigarette, or even replace the inside of teh cigarette with just leaves from teh garden so you dont get any nicotine at all, and it burns.

I think you'd realise yourself doing those things every five minutes.

I just got really wasted on alot of opiates and weed and benzo's and for long enough that the craving would stop, coarse I started again but it helps when I was unable to smoke cigarettes.
