What you need is time.It doesnt really matter what you use, just that you have the time to learn it. Once youve got a basic idea of what you are doing then try out a few different programs and see which one suits you best.

They all have advantages and disadvantages, but till you know how YOU want to work its much of a muchance.

If youve never played with anything before Id probably start with Ableton Live and just throw some loops together and get a feel for how things combine into an actual song.

Have a look round the net and download a heap of free sample packs, and away you go. There are tutorials on how to do almost anything online (be warned- lots of youtube etc tutorials are made by people who dont actually know a whole lot). Ableton comes with some very good and easy tutorials built in.

    Dont get discouraged.

    I totally agree...
I work with both cubase & ableton. Cubase is more powerful but a lot more complicated.
Also try Fruity Loops... Very interesting program...
If you don't have a sound-card, try working with loops, instead of complicating. It takes a lot of time to get to know each program... You need to sit for an hours on a computer chair, until you get it right... But once you realize how, it's indescribable pleasure.
And of course, listen to others, but play like there's no one else...
Send us a link to hear!!!
    Keep playing!!!
