Greetings from the desert! Hi! I'm Penelope or "princess peedge" (there is a whole uninteresting story behind that name). I'm 43, single mom, I work in marketing and am desperately trying to get out. I enjoy cooking, singling like no one is listening, watching the Anaheim Ducks and Portland Trail Blazers, and am currently in the process of starting out in stand up comedy. I'm a music fan, a film buff, and a comic book nerd. I live mostly alone and share custody of my 15 year old son. I live in a condo and only have a 4x10 balcony, but I want to find a way to attempt an herb garden this year. My comfort shows are Seinfeld, Mad About You, Gilmore Girls, and Yellowjackets. Sleater-Kinney was the last concert I attended, and Jaws is the greatest movie ever made. If you ever wonder what kind of person I am, in my past I was both a cheerleader and a hockey player. Go figure. Trans youth needs to be protected, Black lives do, in fact, matter, and women deserve dominion over their own bodies. I prefer boring cereal. Bran Flakes for the win. You can keep your fruity and marshmallowey whatevers.
Welcome to the site! Does the balcony face south? That would be good for some winter plants. East or west might be better for the rest of the year. Those herbs can get cooked pretty dry quickly in the desert. Basil does thrive in the heat and sun, but takes watering daily Same for cannabis... But there are plenty of other herbs!!! Enjoy the site, it's got many different corners.
Yes! It actually does face south, but despite that it doesn't get a ton of sunlight. It might be more on a SE angle. My mom has an actual garden and hooked me up with a basil plant she started and I kept it alive all summer and was harvesting it into November. Cannabis would be nice, but we're oversaturated where I am. You can go into a dispensary and get an ounce for $80. Plus my friend's husband dropped $1,000 on the lights, the tent, whole grow operation set up, and they hook me up with tons of free weed. I'm not...disciplined enough to have a constant supply and not abuse it. It would be like an alcoholic with their own distillery.
Which the band was named after. I think they grew up on that street, or at least lived on it at some point. That's so rad!
I haven't been to Eugene specifically, but I have some good friends in Portland. I almost took a job at OMSI last year, in fact. Spent some leisure time in Canon Beach, Astoria, and Seaside. The seal exhibit at the Seaside aquarium was quite memorable. Beautiful state. I do like the ruggedness of the PNW
Welcome I'm pleased you found this site. I think it's well moderated and the mods are a diverse bunch, with all sorts of tastes, and are very tolerant, imv. I hope you enjoy being here. B
If you enjoy classical music and opera, along with pulling all your appliances apart, you can always chat to HF's resident nutty professor. I always think this aria describes a first day on HF, read the subtitles.
