The Newage Nomads are a small tribe of folks whom have become weary of the new world order of things. Many cultures have been traditionally nomadic, but traditional nomadic behavior is quickly dying out in industrialized countries. We would have to consider ourselves peripatetic nomads, traveling about trading from place to place to earn our keep. Mainly we base our tools and trade on all natural and traditional standards. Currently we are staying in a summer location thirty miles out of Darby, MT. So far there are four nomads signed on with the camp. We are wondering if there are any other nomads out there that would like to join us on our experiment to return to our ancestral roots. Also we are interested in any places were folks would be willing to host our village for a week or so in exchange for a work trade.
heya cloudflower, coming back with a need to know here ...can do it via Pm or e mail (nomadhermit link at bottom in sig)...you were last at echowood down near austin a fairly new community that actually started from these boards. You had sounded happy there....anything changed ?....obviously - yes. But a heads up regarding the community status would be appreciated. Should you wish to keep it private...nobody likes to dis people and misunderstandings can burn deep and some of the founders were burned from zendick association which might lead to hasty decisions. Any personal reply and information will be kept that way, but questions are asked and we strive for accurate information....so I ask for you input please. done with respect and wishing you the best thank you Blessings Namaste (my spirit bows to your spirit)
bumping for great justice im interested in this nomadic tribe you mention lately ive been unsure whether i should get some land, farm and start a stationary commune or, live with a small nomadic tribe traveling and helping each other out. if you can give me more information, i would love to see the prospects of joining if you guys are looking for some new people. Im going to get my associates degree soon, maybe that can help in regards to money. thanks
if you could give me more information on this that would be wonderful! i'm very seriously interested in doing something like this, and have a wee bit of experience. this is what i would like my life to be.. please let me know!
Wow that sounds great. I have been giving communal living some thought lately. I don't have a relationship with my "family" anymore I can't stand them so I need a new family that will love me for me.
Great to hear about new group! Hope things are going great. If you guys are going to be around down here in Texas let us know. We would love to see you again! And to Old Wolf... Yes we are still down here in Texas and doing well. When we started all this a few years ago, I have to admit I had no idea how hard it would be. The funny thing is that all the pitfalls that I had worried about turned out to not be that much of a problem and the most challenging aspects have turned out to be the things I thought would be no problems at all. It continues to be more and more every day an enlightening and challenging experience. It takes tons of hard work to make a community function and it takes even more work on yourself, learning to live with others. We have some great projects in the works and the community economy is growing steady with veggies from the garden as well as soap, natural incense, eggs etc being sold at farmers markets and craft shows. We are putting in mushroom logs in the next few weeks and just finished a strawberry barrel project. There are tons of other things going on as well. I am working on a site update to add more detail to the projects section. We are hoping we can use this to give others ideas that can aid them in starting their own group. I will let you know when I do the update. We are still small but have a steady flow of visitors and things only seem to get better as we get projects finished and work out systems to make things run more smoothly. It has been a challenge but now I would not give it up for the world. Rasha aka Rob www.echowood.org
Thank you Rasha always good to hear....why not start a thread and outline what your group found as the greatest challenges for community And yah my brother I smile with you...for maybe I have a wee bit better idea than most....it's really all about Growing ! Namaste
Sorry I have not had time to post an update about Echowood. Things are very busy around here but I will make some time to let everyone know how things are going and about the biggest challenges we have faced so far. Maybe it could help some other groups better prepare for their own challenges. Anyway it's back to the garden for me.
