I am new to this Path and was wondering what people opinions are snd also seek help. Do to some personal things in my life I changed my spiritual path to Wicca. I have been researching on YouTube, Tic Toc, and google and came across people who use the Abrahamic God and saints as deities in their practice and was interested in this. Again would like to find out peoples opinions if it is still considered Wicca or not. Thank you for your feed back.

Have you any specific questions to ask?

Probably not original wicca, culture cross contamination.

    Hello gail1954!

I lived up in NorCal for years myself, and there were many wiccans in the Lake County/Hopland/Ukiah area. I too am a minister in the Universal Life Church and celebrated several weddings in Lake County... such joy!

In past we had a lively group of alternative thinkers here, I think they are lurking in the shadows somewhere... at least I hope so!

    Peace be unto you :)

I've spent a lot of time in the company of a lot of Wiccans, and while they're certainly a very diverse and eclectic lot, it's certainly my impression that most Pagan folk's understanding of Paganism is that it's neither monotheistic nor Abrahamic.
When Pagan religions such as Yoruba, Santaria, and Vodou were introduced to the Americas by African slaves, practitioners disguised their traditional West and Central African deities behind the socially acceptable masks of a plethora of Catholic saints; the compulsory and brutally dominant religion of the time. For instance, Changó, a male god (orisha) of thunder, lightning, and fire, is identified with St. Barbara, a devout young woman who lived in the fourth century C.E. and who was beheaded by her Pagan father for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. At the moment of her beheading her father was struck by lightning, and this gave rise to a legend that St. Barbara had power over lightning bolts (and is now the patron saint of artillerymen). Although Changó is a masculine orisha, the similarities between this legend and the Yoruba traditions about him led to this syncretic blending the two. So when lighting a St. Barbara candle, it's not actually the Christian St. Barbara practitioners of Santaria or Vodou have in mind; she's just an avatar. They're invoking the powers of the Pagan god of fire; Changó.

    May peace be with you.

If I believed in a god, it would be the angry god from the Old Testament/Torah.

Wicca I think is a spinoff from Witchcraft, and Wiccans did not want to be associated with old school Witches like Aleister Crowley and Janet Farrar. Wicca I think is a modern spinoff. My self I am a Witch for over 30+ years and consulted many books like those of Stewart and Janet Farrar, and others. Have found recently good books like Queering your Craft by Cassandra Snow, Plant Magic for the Beginner Witch by Ally Sands, The Witch's Guide to Wands by Gypsey Elaine Teague. I come from a traditional background and I forged my Athame myself which has an ebony handle. I spent three years studying with an American Indian Medicine Woman. Spirituality has many facets. I have and still do Tarot readings using the Rider-Waite decks ad have published a book on Tarot and teach a class. I have developed what I call "Fast Track Ceremonies" when one is pressed for time and emergencies. I keep a Book of Shadows, I am very much into Creational Energy regarding my path. So really to answer your question, the tools are the same, Cup, water, Wand, Air, Athame, Fire, Pentagram, Earth, Water, Earth, absorbs, Fire, Air, sends forth energy. I would still explore Janet Farrar books and also watch out for conflicting information because there is a lot out there!!! Anyway good luck. Learning is a path, with many twists and turns.
