Hey everyone,i am new to the forum and have been dealing with chronic pain for many years now,my primary care doctor started me off on the basic pain meds with all sorts of muscle relaxers and all that other stuff,so over the years we made changes due to mostly of building up a tolerance to alot of different pain meds.So here i am now on the 125mcg fentanyl patch, been on these for over two years, along with a boatload of gabapentin 300mgs.After reading alot of threads here i am glad i have been saving the gabapentin,i take them every now and then .I have been still using the patch to stay well, doctor says she isnt comfortable letting me change them every 48 hours, but she also gives me perc,10/325 for brekthrough med,its like taking m&ms.So,im like alot of others here,i come up short of patches on a monthly basis and all that stressful stuff and seem to barely make it at times.I also take care of my wife who has been in a wheelchair for 23 years and has lost the use of her legs, its tuff at times but i do my best to take care of her,we have been married for over 15 years now....Well,sorry to ramble,i just wanted to hollar at you all and i find this forum really cool, lots of good people here...take care, and enjoy the weekend..

Good to have another friendly person to talk to about the trials and tribulations of opioid use with. They are helpful medications but have their annoyances of course.

Running short every month is always one of the more annoying things but hopefully you can learn some ideas from the members here on how to stretch out your supply and cope with withdrawal. The Gabapentin thing seems to help a lot of people so that is good that you have that!

Welcome sir. Nice to meet you. I am a fellow chronic pain patient. I just had my 2nd lower lumbar spinal steroid injection and am RXed 120-10/325 hydros for pain and zanaflex for muscle spasms. I also use roughly 30mgs a day of morphine plugged and that is what REALLY HELPS MY PAIN! No M and I am hurting. I got 2 morphine left and less than 8 hydros so I'm hoping I can last till my apt on the 1st and I really hope my morphine comes through today or tomorrow. Today would be best. If you need any advice on WD control I can help with that along with a few other ppl. Between our collective knowledge and how much we all complain about running out early you would think we would ration more but we never seem to learn haha. It's just hard to sit in pain when you have something that will take it away right there.

Well, I went through wd's because someone stole a lot of my hydro's. I just finished the 10th day. The process took I'd say around 6-7 days. There is still some sneezing (lol) but the rest of it is over. Once more Gabapentin came to the rescue. But the wd's are just a minor annoyance compared to the resurgence of the pain that my meds are prescribed for. The spinal nerve root impingement is on both sides now. The resulting sciatica is literally a pain in the butt. And it gets bad. My meds will be sent out on the 30th, so I'll get them maybe 4 days later. So, on the 1st I'll have to buy some from 2 people I know. And it's expensive.

I can only imagine how that has got to feel,i have only had to go a couple of days of withdrawals here and there because i come up short sometimes before refill, and wd's from fentanyl is something,i didnt have a thing to help at all,as i sit here with a patch on my lower back is screaming and my hips and legs feel like a throbing toothache, its tuff.I am sorry to hear what you are going through,i would have probaly ended up in the hospital.I havent had to see if gabapentin will help through wd's yet,but i do have a couple of days to make up this month,so time will tell.Well,i hope you get straightned out and get some relief, wish there were something i could do to help you out, hang in there and take care.
