well now there are two stray cats hanging around the house, but the new one of the two -which i noticed just a few days ago- has taken to living under our porch and only coming out to eat and drink the food/water i leave out. the problem is that it's driving *my* cat and dog insane....my dog is going crazy trying to get to this cat (and not to make friends) and my cat is having run ins with her ( i think its a her) as well and ive had to break up some more fights. I just dont want this cat to get hurt, which she will eventually if my dog gets to her or if my cat finally decides he's had enough. She wont come near me either. Ive tried coming out everyday and talking to her with food in hand, hoping to get her a little more used to my voice, but she still just stays under the porch and meows at me from afar. I *could* call the spca to come and trap her but i hate to think that my decision will cost her to end up living in a small cage untill someone adopts her or they put her down. she looks healthy, perhaps some idiot decided they didn't want her anymore and dropped her off in the fields by my house (maybe she's even preggers?) I know how some people can be when their cat gets preg and they dont want to deal with the litter...they dump:mad: so i feel like im in a little bind and i dont know what to do......ideally it would be nice if she wasnt so afraid of me and then i could socialize her with my animals but i have a feeling that wont go over so well...my dog is a hunting dog (i dont use her for that of course) but anything she sees that moves -esp cats- she will chase with the intent of killing them....so not a good situation all around. what to do~

it does sound like the cat is pregnant, as all they want to do is to stay in a
quiet place out of the way. All I can suggest is to try and coax her out like you have been doing. Try some tuna or some other fishy food.

Good luck & hope the cat is ok.

ah well then I shall probably have to call the spaca......i just cant let this mother have kittens under my porch and i cant bring her inside with my dog and cat, as much as id like to. better then for her to to go to the spca, maybe have some babies and go to a foster? *sigh* poor baby

aww poor little cat. i surpose you could call the spca, and they could set a trap for her. unless you do try really hard to get her, or even see about making a trap yourself then it might smell a bit more like her 'home' and not of spca stuff. its really sad though. you could even look up a rescue centre which is just for cats in your area? keep us updated, hope she/he is ok xxx

call your local humain society.. get her off the streets, and into a healthy invornment asap.. the last place to have a healthy litter of kittens is under a deck alone.. she needs a warm shelter with a high protien diet.

ive called the spca....they are going to let me pick up a trap and bring her in. hopefully i can trap her before they close tommorrow, othewise I suppose I'll have to find someway to keep her in my home for the weekend. they said i could always "leave her in the trap by the front door and someone will get her when they stop by the place" but I cant just leave her there in a trap, unprotected from the elements.....god its going to be 93 degrees out tommorrow! poor girl will be so stressed ...that alone will probably send her into labor.....hope everything goes as planned otherwise Ill make a nice bed for her in my bedroom with everything she needs and hopefully that will be ok with her and she wont be climbing the walls...she is definaltey nesting though....she doesnt leave her spot under the porch unless its to eat the food i leave for her, then she goes right back under.
