Has anyone noticed the new trend in bread-winning? I dont know if this is just an aussie-country thing but increasingly guys expect women to support them. I dont mean stay at home dads I mean stay at home and smoke pot guys who expect the women to work, clean the house, cook dinner and collect their dole cheques for them. Sorry for ranting
is it a trend? I think its socioeconomically influenced to a large degree... I'm pretty sure that this is mostly the case in families where their overall income is less than 30,000 a year... maybe its just another one of those A Current Affair moral panics about "deadbeat dads"
really? oz here I come. No - I haven't really noticed - only that things seem pretty equal these days. Its just in Britain, there seems to be a general distaste at the moment towards doing jobs that are seriously unmeaningful and low-paid which the euopean community appears to be embracing. There are a lot more women in management positions than there used to be but I'd say it's pretty equal
I dated a guy like that for a while. He blamed it on his depression, and got even worse when I told him I was not buying any more pot -- if he wants to smoke up, he has to go find a job. Once it became clear that he was not really interested in seeking treatment for his depression or in looking for a job, I got the hell out of there. Who needs that? I'd rather be single for the rest of my life than play mommy to someone who's older than I am! People will treat you as poorly as you let them. As long as there are women out there willing to put up with men like this, why should those men change? Why are so many women willing to put up with this?
I wouldn't be able to be attracted to somone like that. I have been with a few well-off pot heads before and I couldn't even handle that. Why do some women put up with that crap? I have noticed this trend here in the states and it's mostly gorgeous, succesful, educated women hung up on these guys with no college, no job and abusive personalities. I don't get it...
My soon to be ex didn't smoke pot but was a realtor and under the guise of a bad real estate market, I supported him. You can see by the fact that he is my stbx and not my husband how that went over...
it's no new trend. My ex-husband quit his job the day we got back from our honeymoon (in 1991) and just played nintendo and stayed drunk all day long until I finally up and left him.
