To decriminalise/legalise weed. They want their people and tourists back, and those dirty old men in office know they have to give them some reason to come back. I think I will shoot them a letter.

States have enough trouble legalising weed for medicine. I don't think the New Orleans situation will inspire a change in federal laws. But a failed effort is better than not trying.

new orleans can legalize pot if they want, but it will do no good. Denver legalized possession of weed, but its still illegal thru state laws, so the cops still arrest people.

depends on who's doing the arresting; if a trooper catches you, he can, but a municipal cop can't procecute.

Yes but the New Orleans goverment can tell its cops to let people at mardigrass smoke. Or get the sheriff to get the cops not to bust on people. This will encorage smokers to live there.

your wrong. municipal cops are arresting under state law. There hasn't been any news stories that I can find as to whether they are upheld in court but there have been TONS of arrests since december(?) when it was legalized.

edit: as of this post, me and turn have the same first letter in our name, same avatar, and same post count. WEIRD.

    AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. thank you.

Denver's legalizing marijuana possession in small amounts was meant as a statement. If more cities did this, eventually politicians would take note and try to curry favor with their constituents by supporting legislation to legalize possession of marijuana. If such statements become widespread.

The weird thing is Popular Science put out an article about 6 months before Katrina warning about how the leves could break and flood N.O. Their solution was a 3 billion dollar new set of leves that would have been the most expensive public-works project the goverment ever undertook. Too bad I can't find the article, but I guess it was common knowledge this could happen.

The levees would had done far better with out the 3 billion price tag. just from the pictures i saw i can see were they went wrong . Holland have been stealing land from the ocean for a long time and they have far less money resources than the great empire "USA" .
