I want a new name like Ryvre (Stone) or something like that, but I can't decide on anything! I love the name rayne, but that is being reserved for my first born child, so I hope my future wife approves or it will go to waste! hahaha. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I have checked out the list from hippy.com, but nothing like, "clicked".)

Yeah, skye would be pretty cool! I don't know though, does it seem too common? Like a lot of origionally "hippie" names are really common names nowadays like autumn and summer... But I suppose one could always add something else to the name skye like... Sunny Skye, Painted Skye, Starry Skye... Wow, that is great! I will give that one a lot of though!

It maybe sounds silly, but the name is it important? It's only a label that you must wear all your life to being registered.Me, when I was smaller, I didn't like my name, but now, I think that the other names doesn't suits me.However, It's only my opinion and you don't have to respect it

I have a huge passion for names, they encapsulate so much; our identity, history, dreams etc. Even more so if they are of your own choosing. I'm a writer and take such care when naming characters, those names become shorthand for their whole identity. Also take care with meanings (one of my characters is Felix, which means lucky, and he has a very charmed life)

I've chosen my own name, never felt the given name has the right resonance for me. I've changed a lot in recent years, so feel it appropriate to acknowledge this new identity.

It's hard to give definite advice, only you can know what feels right. Listen to your instinct, the things you value, your heritage etc. Then the name will have real resonance.

With my first name [Sage] it was a pretty impulsive choice, just knew it felt right. It is a 'hippy name', though I'm not really a hippy any more. Still suits perfectly. I think the beauty of nature names is they can have so many meanings and evolve.
Then my middle name [Cerridwen] took a lot of searching and thought. It is the name of a Welsh goddess; and symbolises my heritage, culture, values and what is important to me.
That and there is just such a poetry to the name, all strung together.

Good luck in your search :)

I always hated the name paul when I was young, It sounded so meek and mild and wimpy. When I got older, I found out that it was not my name that I did not like. Now I like myself and my name a little better.

in india i met westerners who had changed their names. One german was "Joy", one israeli was "miracle", one english/african was "seagull". This was all on the same beach arambol, north goa. I have my suspision that those experienced hippy/backpackers/dealers were actulally playing with us, the ones that didn't live permanently on the beach, like they did....

Why don't you piss-simple teen-age air-heads trot on over to The Young Hippie Forum? It makes me ill to read your absurd and moronic posts and replies.

I have 4 children, and if anyone of them ever had wanted to "be a hippie", I would have tied them to a sycamore tree and horse-whipped them.

Lucky for all of us: they wanted to get a job, raise a family and make something of themselves---and I didn't have a horse.

Why are you here if I may ask? At a hippy website? In the hippy forums? Complaining about younger hippes not writting in a certain forum? I think you need to ask yourself these questions and question to yourself where all of this inner hate and frustration comes from and get rid of it. You need to watch what kind of vibes you are sending out, cause you seem to have a lot of negative karma.

Thanks a lot to the rest of you! For the record, I do not HATE or have any problems with my name! It just doesn't say anything about ME! I am all about expressing myself so when people see me, they have a general jist of who I am. I put patches and stitching on my bags and jackets, stickers on my car, and everything like that. So I want an alian that reflects who I am, or at least something about my personality. So when people ask my name, they will know more of who I am.. NOT just another "James".

Sage you gave some GREAT advice! I am going to asses my values, instincts, herritage, etc and try to find something that best reflects all of that.

But don't think it is all about hating my name... I don't have problem with my name except for it not making a statement!
