Hello, I recently joined Hip Forums to read discussions in the other sections. I was pleasantly surprised to find a photography section because I really enjoy it and have tried to push my own personal limits to master my skills. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge with all who seek to master thier skills. After a close look at this particular section it appears there's not much going on. I guess I'm a little late to the party.
I'm sure if you start posting here more will follow. I would love to see some of your photography. I've always had an interest but really haven't pursued it in any meaningful way.
Well maybe there's more going on than appears. That's a decent welcome and I thank you. I've joined my first photo forum in 2006 the same year I bought my first DSLR. That forum shut down a few years ago but I am so thankful to have found and joined it. It was a group of likeminded people who were all entering the digital age at the same time. Because of that forum the learning curve was greatly accelerated for all of us. From my perspective today, it seems that phones have such good cameras and software in them that there's less of a need for a digital camera and lenses. A phone camera will never be able to do what a good interchangeable lens camera (ILC) camera can but for 99% of the photo's most people take a phone will do just fine. So I guess that there would naturally be less people who are still into photography (camera's, lenses, software, off camera flash gear, monitors, and all the other thing photography) as there once were. Anyhow, I was happy and surprised to see there was a dedicated photography forum here. Now a days I'm retired and have a lot of camera gear that's outdated that I still use to take family photo's with. I used to be into photography to make some money but that took all the fun from it. With the photo's I take today I try to add an artistic look to them because I can and that separates those photo's from a "snapshot" photo taken with any cell phone. Once or twice a year my wife and I will plan a photoshoot outing where we will go out to a unique place and she will model for me in the surrounding environment. She's not quite as able to get around as good as she once did so those outings are not happening very much if at all anymore. I miss that because that is when I was the happiest with photography. My old gear consist of; Sony A-mount full frame cameras Sony E-mount aps-c camera and a few lenses for travel Many A-mount Minolta, Sony lenses with a couple of Rokinon lenses. Many flashes and controllers for off camera flash. On1 PhotoRaw 2023 photo editor 27" Imac A few examples. These are all very recent photo's, not my best just the regular everyday stuff.
