Times are hard at the moment with my small business (organic produce) and so reluctantly I've had to look for a part-time job to make up my income I've not been too fussy, but I wanted a job that would work around my family. Yesterday I went for an interview for a waitressing job in a local vegetarian café. During the interview which was pretty informal the subject or dress code came up and the Manager suggested that if I got the job I would have to dress in a black t-shirt or vest and a suitable bottom half. At that point I remarked that a couple of the other waitresses wear 'flip-flops' and that I don't like to wear shoes but could wear flip-flops if I got the job..................well SCORE, not only did I get the job, the Manager said that she did not at all mind me working barefoot as long as I respected health & safety where appropriate :bandana: I start tomorrow, sure it's not a conventional café or clients, but neither am I! Been out this morning purchased a pair of 3/4 tailored shorts and a couple of t-shirts....rock-on! :daisy: Excuse my excitement...I had just had to share this positive news Shayla x
Wonderful news, well done. So, so please that you have a found a job that allows you to be barefoot. Bloody marvellous! :flyhigh:
Nice one Shayla. Congrats, especially a job you can do barefoot. Have to wear bloody boots in my job - they kill me!
I just got a job as a dishwasher, but I have arthritis, so it kills me to stand on my feet for seven hours without a break. I think, wearing shoes has a lot to do with it. So I was pondering the thought that, if I went barefoot, it might make it easier, since I can stand on my feet for a couple hours cooking and washing dishes at home with no pain. But I doubt where I work would go for it. You're so lucky
Well finished my first shift and my feet are tired! Great day, really enjoyed it I even get a free meal. Just sat in my van now resting my feet while I wait for my friend to finish work - then we're off to the pub! so while I'm here I thought I'd snap another picture (yes I'm like a kid with a new toy).. Shayla x
Great pic. Nice feet and love the body art. Just wondering - did your soles get dirty during your shift as your feet look quite clean?
Yeah, they got a bit grubby as you would expect, but it's been a warm sunny day in a country town, they don't get that dirty in those conditions Shayla x
I met a girl named Trish in the NYC Port Authority bus terminal. She was taking a bus to the NJ Meadowlands to attend a Grateful Dead show. Trish was barefoot. I told her I noticed we like the same shoes. She immediately put her sole against mine because she thought her feet were wider than mine. Our soles were the same. Trish told me she didn't even own any shoes and worked barefoot in a small clothing store in Greenwich Village. She said the owners were very understanding. I vacationed in Aruba a long time ago. The maid came in and she was barefoot! Her soles were very tough but not too dirty. Nice to know that there are those lucky enough to be able to work barefoot :clown:
