hey so My names shannon.. or sparkles.. its been my nickname since I was 3... and anyways I found this site searching google for stuff on the 1960's counterculture, hippies, shit like that.. this sounds sort of dumb but I was researching stuff for my junior research project.. its a requirement to graduate for school.. We have to pick a topic that interests us.. I picked hippies my dads one and its rubbed off ALOT on me my entire life.. hmmm maybe I should tell you a little bit about MYSELF.. considering this is an introduction post.. well like I said my names shannon (but I hate it) I usually go by sparkles or delilah or midget or shannonagins or ...well whatever anyone wants to call me lol Im 17 and Im a junior.. Ive been a... wannabe hippie since I could walk Ive always been completely obsessed with hippies.. when I was younger Id hang out with my dad and his best friend jimmy and listen to the grateful dead while they got high in my kitchen lol.. I guess you could say it was my destiny to have this weird obsession.. hmm well my favorite bands are grateful dead, jefferson airplane, the beatles, arlo guthrie, dispatch, jewel, sublime, regina spektor, dropkick murphys, billy joel, bob dylan.. to name a few.. if I sat here and listed every band I liked Id be here all day Im a polo vegetarian.. so I only eat chicken.. its not that Im against eating meat or anything.. Im not cruel but I mean.. you need protein, I jsut hate the texture of it so I just dont eat it.. My passion and drive is dancing.. Ive irish danced for almost 11 years and I recently started contra dancing and I like it almost as much. dance is my life and it completely defines me. My favorite thing to do is walk barefoot. I can't even explain a better feeling.. and Im not talking about barefoot at the beach or the park (though both are nice)-- I mean I LOVE to walk barefoot ALL THE TIME .. like some women like to not wear bras? I like to not wear shoes.. all year round im either in flats or flipflops or nothing at all if i can help it.. i get yelled at on a regular basis at school to put my shoes back on I tend to go off on rants alot due to the fact that I apparently have ADD.. I really really dislike having it and even being associated with it.. it makes me i dunno.. feel different. so Im sort of sensitive about it.. well I guess thats a pretty deep introduction right? I hope... Im.. accepted? or... something lol actually quite frankly Id love it very much if I was.. when I found this site i thought to myself "wow.. Im not alone!" who wants to tell me amazing stories from their hippie days? I wish Icouldve been there

hah well Im having alot of fun with it.. which I guess is a good thing.. if I dont do well .. I dont graduate.. which honestly wouldnt be the worst thing in the world either.. and yes it was taken in providence.. I live about 5 minutes away from the mall
