I started my dreadlocks a month ago and loved them. I kept my bangs separate and left those undreaded, but after waiting 5-7 days I washed them for the first time and they completely came undone. I started them by back combing and I'm unsure if it could've been the cause but I also have oily hair because I wash my hair daily. My question is if I wanted to make them again what should I do to make sure they don't fall out in the first wash?

I would recommend using the rip and twist method. If you're unsure go onto youtube and check a tutorial. I had dreads before and backcombing made them really loose.
I started my dreads with the twist and rip method and they are about 2 weeks old now and have held up against lots of washes so far. Try not to wash for the first week if you can as that was probably why they came undone. If you use elastic bands at your roots and ends it helps.
Is your hair straight? Try washing your hair with baking soda, water, seasalt and lemon juice before you re dread to get your hair really knotty and never ever use conditioner!
Also make sure your shampoo is residue free. If you dont have a residue free shampoo use baking soda and water, pour it over your head, wait 5 minutes then rinse. Then use an apple cider vinegar solution and do the same but only leave it on for 1 minute or so.
That should help your hair lock up :bandana:

Before starting your dreads you should get your hair used to not being washed as often because the oils in your hair decease the friction that keeps the dreads together and knotty. Hope this helps. :daisy:
