They haven't pushed the upgrades yet?? I thought that happened like 6 months ago or something.

idk, I haven't been keeping up with it because I have no plans on upgrading.

Hmm, that website is on my peerblock blacklist for some reason.
Anyway, if you have the Win10 update nag / tray icon, just go to: System / Windows Update / Installed Updates, and uninstall the update named KB3035583.
Then do the sane thing and disable automatic updates.

There's more than just that one update involved.... there's been at least 5 "updates" that involve Win10,

and Win10 has already begun to download itself onto your hard drive without asking for permission.

I just love the way when I open file folders that I have to adjust the size the folder every fricking time..

I just love the way I open notepad and have to change the word wrap every time..

I just love how they take over my media players and the way I want to view photos of coonyay east that has an advertisement ..

I just love the way I purchase game and game vanishes on updating I did not ask for.. be the last $4.99 I ever spend..

I just love the way I make changes to power setting as in closing lid do nothing, do nothing with password yet, every time ..

I just love the way my notebook looks with 14, 9mm holes in it..

Yeah, the (file) explorer in windows 7 is a real sloppy bag of dicks. A real "tear you hair out" experience. I love screaming at my PC, "Did I SAY I wanted my VIEW SETTINGS changed for this folder, ASS HOLE!?". And here's a new 'FUN' thing that's happened to me at least 4 times since Win7, that has literally NEVER happened to me before. When I'm deleting files in (file) explorer, I SHIFT-DELETE to avoid recycling as I've been in the habit of doing for the past 3 decades, but for some jack ass reason (file) explorer thinks I wanted to permanently delete the whole fucking directory tree from the left pane. A second later when I realize what It's doing, 40 gigs of important folders are gone. Luckily I've always had backups but this shit has never happened to me before Win7. Although I have pretty much hated every single change from File Manager since Windows 95.

100% agree, File explorer was better when it was clunky. I'm not being sarcastic. Its interface wasn't recondite, and yet it was configurable. Microsoft could have just upgraded the code to utilise the newer toolkit, but instead they completely remade it, and into a piece of shit. The opposition, Apple, on the other hand made their file manager, Files, so basic that it became cumbersome to do the simple things. A completely different shade of shit.

You sir need a factory reset. I've never had any of that happen to me before. I knew nothing of this 'shift-delete' function until now.

Win7 has never given me too much of a problem. Then again, I have a full system backup on standby for when things get hairy. Why run a scan with Malwarebytes and/or Spybot that takes hours (or days with my specs LOL), when I can have a fully functional virus/spyware free backup running in half an hour?

I haven't noticed the folder view settings changing on me, though I never mess with them unless the need arises. Switching between music, picture, etc folder settings tho, that does piss me off. But that's what HTPC's are for. Orison mentioned this too. I guess I just overlook it since I'm always rummaging through files.

    Win10 can suck it.

One feature I LOVE about Win 10 is that if you open a folder with content, you can scroll up and down the window with the mouse wheel instantly. With Win 7 I HATE the way you have to click on something a couple of times until it's background turns blue before you can scroll. I HATE that feature! Btw, I'd just like to point out here, that if that's a feature you change please don't laugh at me too mercilessly...

^ Hey, that almost sounds useful. Try this; if you are holding down CTRL to select multiple files and then use the mouse wheel, does it do anything retarded like change the view types instead of scrolling?

old menu on my old 486 DX4 100mhz I wrote. Still have DOS/Win 3.11 on a virtual machine and use that menu.
I used to be pretty good at batch files, I had a ton of them to do all kinds of stuff, now I can't remember 25% of the commands...LOL

I used to use Symantec's Q&A, a great database and word processor with the "Intelligent Assistant" that allowed you to query the db using regular english expressions, which just translated your request into an SQL query.

It was VERY FAST on a 286, as I recall. I can just imagine the speed it would run on today's machines!

Anyway, it was easy to setup a custom menu for people, it even launched other programs.

Problem was, they never came out with a db for Windows, it only ran on DOS, or in a DOS window (if you were lucky!).

If I still had the program I'd check it out. I wonder if it got sold or evolved into some other Windows program.
