Humanity's reign is coming to an end. But there won't be any great Robot uprising. There won't be a Sky-net sending terminators after us. No matrix set up to harvest us as a resource, we won't be hunted by Cylons or Enslaved. No, it will happen quietly, and we will end it ourselves. Little by little, as our reliance on technology grows, and our desire to live longer manifests with better and better prosthetic, we, ourselves will allow the machine to take over our bodies, and when the machine shell can no longer protect the meat brain, we will find a way to transfer our consciousness into a digital format and the end of human kind will be complete. We will find our immortality in the exact thing we feared the most.
Isn't that exactly what we are doing here now? Then AI can reassemble our collected thoughts and musings. It can create avatars for us like ours here, and they can interact just as we are doing now...
Fuck sake! Scary stuff. Maybe more time could be spent on fixing humans than on creating human equivalents or substitutes.
Doses it do any work or just walk around all day, causing a distraction and making other people trip over.
Not exactly what I meant. All of what we add to these forums, or what we do on other sites around the internet, are compilations of thought processes we leave behind. We are all still ourselves, and separate from the compilation. I was referring to actually taking the fullness of every electrical impulse, every cognitive engram from our physical meat brain, storing it in a digital medium and awakening in an artificial body, still with he same sense of self we had in the meat body.
