Anyone a fan of any Netflix shows? What are your favorites?

I am watching Get Down right now, about the birth of hip hop in 1970s Bronx. It is pretty damn good, there is one subplot about a church girl on the cusp of fame and she sounds like a 2000s pop star, I could do without it but other than that it is a great show. It is interesting learning about the history of the Bronx and hip hop, and the cinemetography and all the 70s nostalgia is great.

Speaking of nostalgia, I think Stranger Things is probably netflix's best show to date. I love all the 80s references and the soundtrack. And the acting is superb.

And then of course their best known show, Orange is the New Black. I love character driven shows and this is one of the best.

    Talk amongst yourselves.

Is it just me, tidalwave of new shows these last two years

There's like a dozen I want to watch, but don't have time.

Getting into Dark Matter at the moment, which is a bit low budget, but pretty good, some of the old Stargate gang make it.

It's on Netflix outside US I think, don't think it's actually on Netflix for real but whatever.

i'm too cheap for most things on the net that cost money.
also tv either misrepresents things i'm interested in, or ignores them entirely.
there are exceptions of course, and netflix has carried some of them.
for a couple of years, ending a little over a year ago,
i lived in a house with someone who did sub to netflix.
    mongrels was good.
and all the iterations of trek of course.
they were more into the marvel universe then i was,
    and epicness in general,
and some kind of animated satyre of bond, i forget what it was called.

Do you just lose interest a couple of episodes in?

I am the same, sort of, but about movies. I can't really sit still for more than an hour which is why I love tv shows. i can be entertained for an hour then go about my day and come back to it whenever.

I liked the Marvel shows Jessica Jones and Daredevil. I've heard good things about Narcos, that's one of the next shows I'm going to try out.

Anyone watch Stranger Things? Thoughts? Would like to start watching it, but I'm finicky about TV and am not sure if it is worth the commitment.

I have really enjoyed most of the shows netflix realeases! I love binge watching TV so it's great that all the episodes get released at once! I've seen way too many netflix shows because of that.
I'm watching Luke cage right now and it's pretty good, so was Jessica jones and daredevil. I really loved the get down, sense8, lillyhammer, Marco polo and stranger things too. I also like that they did a wet hot american summer show. That was fucking hilarious. Bojack horseman is pretty good too, but I didn't like f is for family much.

Disappointing original netflix series: the last season of arrested development was not nearly as good as the others, unbreakable kimmy schmidt was hard to watch, love was pretty boring, flaked kinda sucked, the characters is fucking awful. What were they thinking with that one? I dare you to try and get through the first episode. So basically most of their comedies should be avoided.

I agree with all your dislikes except Love. But i like that type of awkward realistic humor.

I watched maybe two episodes of Kimmy Schmidt and thought it was pretty awful.

Do you think Luke Cage would be enjoyable for someone not familar with the comics? I'm actually not really a comic book person at all, either books or movies, but i thought the premise of Luke Cage sounded interesting.

It's really good. Idk what genre to put it in, but its pretty different from stuff that I usually watch.

I want to watch the Amanda Knox documentary they just put on there.

Is family horror a genre? I think that's what stranger things is.
