Thought I'd try on here and see if anyone lives in my area that needs employees. I can email my resume.
Hey, what kind of work are you looking for? Childcare, food industry, clerical, anything? I've gotten many, many jobs from craigslist. Quickly browsing the CL page for Space Coast/Melbourne: Server/restaurant worker: http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/fbh/4270228445.html Receptionist: http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/hea/4228328862.html Housekeeper: http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/fbh/4266121184.html Elderly caregiver: http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/hea/4270133107.html Also see employment at a liquor store, school, daycare, babysitting, handyman, etc. All posted within the last few days: http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/search/sss?sort=date&catAbb=jjj&query=melbourne There is the full list ^^^
Or there is always selling drugs, armed robbery or prostitution, I hear theres good money in all of them
Ya you should definitely check out Craigslist. I was looking for a different job for a while….sending around 100+ resumes out per night. The return rate was 1:30. In the down job market, and with the high unemployment rate in my city…. I came into two job offers the same day with great salary and perks. So it is possible. So whatever you do, stay focused on your goal and keep working at it even when it may seem like you're getting nowhere. Something will eventually come, if you keep working at it. Apply to everything, then pick and choose which one suits you best if you have that luxury. Also talking with everyone you know, from your parents to their friends. Neighbors to the pharmacy tech. I mean word of mouth can really help too. Also, there have been a few times during my career that I initially applied and interviewed for a job a little below my expertise. During the interview I have done an up sell on my skills and finagled a better position and pay than the company initially offered. For example, offering to do more for the company for better pay. Or offering to consolidate two positions while lowering overhead for the company. For example 2 positions for the price of 1.5 or 1.3. Do you see?
I've checked out Craigslist before but a lot of the jobs I found seemed sketchy and the ads didn't even tell you what the job was. But I'll try it again. Thanks everyone.
Yeah thats part of why I said apply to everything, then once you have more information about each place you can decide. You have to do the research and dig a bit. I literally applied to everything that I could find. Each email I sent out included the link to the original post from Craigslist. This way, when they responded to the email I could compare it to the ad as a reference to remember where / why I applied. There were soooo many instances that good employers came back with healthy responses to my emails (and some crappy ones too of course). Had I overlooked them because of the crappy advertisement, I would have missed out.
That's a good tip. I've been doing that, have applied to 10 jobs already. I'm still looking through the list. Thanks!
Ok thanks. Let me know if you need any help with your resume or what to do for your interview. I love job coaching and helping out in that way. As corny as it sounds… Be confident, you can do it and deserve a good job
