i have questions for people who'd done it before 1. Does it REALLY work for mod-severe add? 2. does it have any really unpleasant side effects (sleepiness drowsiness) 3. Can it get ya high? 4. any other important information you think i should know
don't try it man, the stuff sucks, i know someone who had it and gave some to a friend and he did a bunch to see what it was like, he said it sucked, my advise don't get it
Strattera isn't a stimulant so it won't work as well, or as close to as well, as any other brand of med for ADD that IS a stimulant. Strattera wouldn't be a good choice if you had ADD.
no, its not a stimulant, so it wont be as good for recreation as a different stimulant. it may or may not work well for some cases of ADD/ADHD, and i dont think anyone here is qualified to remark on its ability to treat the disorder. even with personal experience, its only one person's reaction to the drug. i'd say you dont know if it will work for you until you try, so if your dr wants to try it on you, give it a go as long as you aren't committed to definitely having to continue using it (make sure you talk things over w/ your parents and doctor regarding how well the medication works for you and such - its your body, and nothing should be forced to go into it that you dont want to)
strattera is the only non stimulant adhd meds. it will not get you high. i dont know if it works for adhd. im on adderall but i barely take it because i dont take drugs that crack my aura, i find a single toke of good sativa will help me focus more than anything, some find that strange but it works for me.
Its close to ssri's my psychiatrist said. She prescribed it to me but fuck it, I don't like meds. It can be as well add med or an anti depressant, but the second is more of a secondary effect. It starts working after like 2 weeks so no it can't get you high. It's a new med. im very happy that non-stimulant add meds are comin. I dont like the idea of givin stimulant drugs to kids. I mean, you can feel it come up you can feel it go down its fucked for a kid!
Strattera, they're trying to put me on this drug. I dont think I want to be on it, the idea of a stimulant based drug is so much more comforting than some kiddy drug. Like taking tylenol when you need percs or morphine.

Yeah well you might find out stimulant based drug were lowering your quality of life. I don't know, Ive never been on em. Try it maybe.
I've done tons and tons of dexedrine at extremely high doses. I love stimulant drugs, we used to binge on them for days, infact we binged on everything we could.. Yeah things get pretty dull when you get off them for awhile.
Strattera is thought to be an SNRI, so it is like an SSRI except for norepinephrine. My psych had me try it and I was unimpressed. I didn't notice much difference in attention span or ability to concentrate when added to 20 mg po bid Adderall. I did notice a slight increase in fatigue/threshold flu like symptoms for the first few hrs after taking it..finally after about 4-6 hrs things seemed somewhat more clear. Even though it is non-stimulant it interfered with sleep. It just wasn't worth it so I'm sticking to the amphetamines for now. If one has never been prescribed amphetamines/methylphenidate before it might be worth trying first. Not everyone likes speedy stimulants or their dependence potential.
