Need support quitting coffee to be a more peaceful individual!
It's always available in the house I live in and seems so difficult to quit taking!
Also unhealthy foods. I am broke right now so ca't afofrd to eat my way but begin work next week so that should help but I was hoping maybe someone had some good ideas or shocking statistics to help me out.

i have no shocking statistics... well, ive heard them but i dont feel like digging them up but i mean, i havent drank coffee but 5ish times in the past yr. and i feel sooo much better- and actually have more energy then before.

in the morning instead of coffee, just drink some juice and have a good breakfast instead. it works much, much better.

I cold turkeyed on caffeine three weeks ago. Tough but doable.

I made sure I had plenty of water. Maybe you'd need hot herb tea? the idea is to substitute the concoction until you break the behaviour habit.
    Start on your weekend, too.

I'll continue drinking green tea because it lacks the bad health attributes of coffee I believe.

You don't necessarily have to quit coffee totally...at least I didn't. I just cut back...way back. Like I haven't had any today...and my max is like 4 cups a day. I used to be worse. Heh. I do feel better though, now that I've cut back. Lots of water and tea...that'll keep ya away from coffee.

You may wish to try to instead cut back a couple of cups a day for the first few days. At that time for each cup of coffee you would of had instead have two of water. Avoid having fruit juices unless they are lemon or grapefruit as that will help to detox your system.

You do not wish to have fruit juices that have high sugar content as that with the withdrawal from the coffee will make you feel rather crappy and the headache the combination of sugars and withdrawal will give you is not pleasant.

    Good luck :)

You can go with some chai tea or something... it has a third of the caffeine that coffee does... Peppermint tea also wakes you right up, and has no caffeine. Fruit in the morning does the same to wake you up in the morning than coffee does... and it's natural. Try loading your fridge up with some fruits, and make yourself a smoothie first thing in the morning with 3 or 4 fruits... it fits well in a travel mug and you can take it to work....

That's a good idea about the smoothie!!! I should try that. I've heard that pepermint tea is pretty good, too, but I've just been drinking earl grey and such...I should get some pepermint! :D

Thanks for the feedback and ideas I will pull into.

Not drinking any coffee today 'cause I am back to work soon and would rather be calmer so I will of course make an exceedingly strong and rich cup of yerba mate(green tea) to bring with me! yummy yummy yummy

I have heard that more than one cup of coffee a day will cause stress hormones to be released in your body; but that green tea has protective nutrients or some such that prevent its caffeine from having similar effects even if you drink strong green tea(3 or 4 tea bags a cup is quite good in my book) often.
Coffee having beneficial effects? No way, LoL, besides the speediness. No vitamins no nutrients etc and it has an ill efect on vitamin B complexs in the brain(memory). Very yummy too! hehehe

mate's good. it's still a stimulant though, so if your goal is calmness you might want to pick something like chamomile to make into tea.

coffee's an antinutrient. it's bad news. mercola has a lot to say on the subject.

Yea green tea is a stimulant and maybe some day I will quit but over the past years I used alot of psychedelics and cannabis and now that I have quit the yerba mate provides an excellent boon to my thought processing clarity(I also drank it over those years). I'd rather hold on to that for awhile, and start hitting up some ginko bilboa as well soon as I get some cash! Very yummmee.

    OK, quick points here...
mate is NOT the same as green tea.
Green tea like black tea, has caffeine. Mate has a related but not the same alkaloid, mateine.
I am caffeine sensitive (therefore the cold turkey from sodas) and I can handle mate.

green tea and black tea are the same part of the same plant handled differently.

herbal "tea" or infusion, does not have caffeine.
all have some anti-oxidant effects, the greener the better, yay plants!

the coffee and bladder cancer findings were about 4 years ago (I remember a blub on NPR) and the value is coffee's diruetic effects. Drink water, and you get the same benefit.
Now, coffee helps with asthma/ colds because it is a bronchiodilator.
However it has no nutritive value that we know of, and as such should be lumped in with sweets on a food guide.

yerba mate: sold under Mate Factor, Guayaki, and Celestial Seasonings brand names.
It's a South American plant, Brazil and Paraguay have the larger plantations, that acts as a mild adrenal stimulant, like caffeine.
Very green taste. I like mine cold with grape juice.
