Need someone who wants to move to NYC with me.

I'm an 18 year old man and i have 2 options with my life. Get into culinary school and have my dad pay for my apartment, living expenses school etc. Or not get into culinary school and be cut off and kicked out of the home. I am not really too fond of my family at all, being the youngest it has always been hard, so I have no problem packing up and moving on.

I figure if i dont get into culinary school (which im half hoping will happen) I will move to New York City and make something of my life. I dont plan on becoming famous or anything like that, but live the same life i would in New york instead of boring old Alberta Canada. I can sing and act really well, and i am a good looking young man so i figure I can make some money off talent and good looks. I'm going to get a job when i get there, an apartment etc. and i dont mind living in brooklyn or queens or the bronx, whatever haha. But i really think that if i dont get into this school that i want to do this, i mean, why just waste my time being a nobody when i can do the exact same thing in my favorite city and have a chance of being a somebody and meet some new people.

I dont really care if anyone replies to this wanting to come, chances are im going to be doing this alone which wouldn't bother me one bit

I hope you have a plan for legal immigration into the United States.

 

Just make sure you do your research because moving to New York is far from easy, especially for a young guy without a degree or much work experience.

I think most people recommend to save enough to where you can live for 3 months in New York, things like food, rent, transportation, before you even move just in case you can't find a job right away.

You're more than likely going to end up sharing a really shitty apartment somewhere in Queens with 3 other dudes (which I never really saw the living/space situation in NY as much of an issue..its fucking New York. If I lived in New York I would be out so much that it wouldn't really matter if I shared a 400 square foot space with two other people).

Definitely might wanna look into the whole immigration thing.

Would your dad not pay for you to look into going to school in New York and pay for that instead? Thats a really fucking sweet deal, getting to move out into an apartment and having your school paid for.

Alberta is booming, has good schools.
Alberta needs skilled workers of all trades (they importing tham from all over the world)
