You need to run an ethernet connection from your modem to a wireless router. Then you need to assign an ssid and password to your wifi network.

Well is it a plain modem or is it a modem/router?

    That makes a huge difference.
And the Verizon tutorials didn't help?
I watched "setting up your wireless network" and you should be able to manage it from that.

Beyond that without knowing the brand/model number of your modem, whether it is a router/modem, and other details it is impossible for anyone here to really be of much help.
    Sorry.

its a modem/router. just spent the last hour with verizon tech support. i got my password reset so i might be ok. (the video looks easy but i tried everything they suggested and none worked. i gave up when they suggested resetting because every time i have done that i had to call verizon for them to reset it on their end, so i figured just call them and dont bother resetting...he ended up having to reset it anyway) he tried to get my downstairs computer wireless but i dont have a wifi network for it, but i wanted it for my handheld divices. which still dont work, but now i can check my settings at least. i will see if i have them blocked.
