I bought some patterns that I like and they're great. But then I moved from San Diego, where it's warm, to New York, where it's cold. I want to leave the patterns for spring and maybe make some new stuff. I don't have very many clothes that I like. So, I figure making clothes is the cheapest way to get clothes I like. Where do you find your inspiration? For me it's a matter of just taking patterns and changing them to suit my tastes. I've made some interesting and fun clothes that way. Now to find a fabric store nearby... lol I'm thinking about starting some new projects after the holidays. *hugs to all* Jessica
I take inspiration from a lot things, a lot from looking at what other people have made and putting a twist on it. An example is from when I looked at a pixie clothing wbiste. It gave me the idea for a velvet pixie hoodie, which I'll amke when I get my sewing machine (Tomorrow!!)
The pixie hoodie does sound great! What a cute idea I pretty much just wear the same thing for my regular clothes, a fav pair of shorts/jeans and a longsleeved T, but I loveloveluurve making festival skirts. I learn a pattern and then just play with different fabrics and appliques until I am sick of it and then I will get a new pattern. I totaly get off on combining gorgeous fabric and clothes from the free clothes shack into beautiful sparkley creations. It is my Bliss:daisy:
I love it! I love making skirts too. Unfortunatly I don't get to wear them with the oh so cold weather we've been having (and it's just going to get colder...brrr).
So far most of my festival skirts have been made with the idea of having jeans on underneath. Cause it's usually chilly up in the hills at night and I am not really into hot sweaty summer festivals any more. I've always enjoyed that layred look too. That sparklie material gets real cold real quick.
I was thinking of maybe wearing leggings under my skirts with boots. Wasn't sure if it would work. lol BTW...what festivals do you go to?
My daughter wears the mini skirts with leggins and boots. I think it looks really cute and elfish. I go to Shakori hills in the fall and spring. http://www.shakorihills.org/ Eventually I'd like to sell my skirts and things out of a homemade gypsy style trailer there. I think that'd just be too cool
how about something that has flower patterns and butterflies on it, with a smooth fading effect. i think that would look nice on any kind of fabric. something that looks like this: http://www.bigdeal4u.com/category82/product1478.html hope that helps
