I've heard we are fertile only a week or so in a month. Is it true? I mean, I was wondering if I can get pregnant if I have sex without condom a day after my period. I dont really know anything about this so I will really apriciate if someone tryes to explain me. When is our fertility period? Thanks
Well, usually ovulation (your fertile period) occurs 14 days after your menstrual period (or 14 days before, whichever way you prefer to look at it). But it's better to be safe than sorry. Sometimes cycles can get out of whack, one month they may be longer, the next, shorter, and you never know when you might actually be ovulating for sure. I mean, there are signs to look for, but I wouldn't suggest relying on them unless you were very in tune with your body and cycles, which, it doesn't sound like you are (at least yet). So my advice...be careful, and use protection.
One day after your period should not result in pregnancy. There are some links to natural birth control methods pinned on this board. Timing doesn't do anything about STDs.
sounds like you have already done the deed! make a trip to your doctor or pharmacy and get the emergency contraception pill pronto!
fertility awareness: http://www.fwhc.org/birth-control/fam.htm and of course, there are herbs you can use to make yourself sterile, keep eggs from implanting in your uterus, or bring on a late period, but if you dont know what youre doing, you could make yourself sick or die, so if youre interested, do some serious research.
