I'm trying to run Paltalk on my Acer Aspire E 15 laptop and Windows 10. The installer downloads just fine, I install the program, the little icon thingy appears on my desktop...then when I double-click on it I get the following:

I've downloaded the installer 3 times using 2 different browsers and I've run the Compatibility Troubleshooter to no avail. I'm about to try a shotgun and see if that works...if not at least I'll feel better.

Do any of you computer savvy people know what to do? Thanks.

try running the installer in administrator mode. generally when this error happens, the pc seems to think it doesn't have high enough clearance to run the program to install or doesn't have permission to alter the hard drive (by installing, changing settings, etc)

it should carry over to the installed program. if you've still got it installed, go to the program file and mark for it to run as admin

that's my best guess at any rate.

I've tried running the installed program as administrator, it didn't work.

You might try rebooting and making sure the Intel security system is disabled in the bios.

yeah, I'm coming up dry. it's a permissions error, and the only other thing I could think of is either your antivirus (or windows itself) is blockign permissions for some reason

you could possibly set full permissions to your appdata folder (under c:\users\username) and see if that helps. past that, I couldn't do much without sitting there looking at it.

I would try their support team before throwing anything away. :)

    Contact Paltalk

When I was messing with Ableton Live 10 Suite 30 day free trial I had to contact support. My machine met the minimum operating requirements, but wasn't performing correctly. I was getting crackles and drop outs. So, long story short, they knew exactly what the problem was once I told them which processor I was running on.

    Good luck! :)

When you install this Paltalk program, does it give you an installation path option? Right click on the icon, go to Properties, click on Open File Location... Do you see the application files? Is it a normal program path like "C: Drive / Program Files / Paltalk"? If it is a weird place can you copy the folder to a normal location (C:/Program Files/) and run the application exe file from the folder manually?

I've actually tried all of this to no avail. Their support team was courteous but unhelpful; basically they suggested everything I had already tried. I even tried installing it on a flash drive and running it from there (as if that would make a difference) but no matter what I do I get the same message. I haven't tried to run it in 'safe mode' if that's even possible. I might try it now to see what happens.

Well when I try to use Paltalk while in safe mode it works just fine...except the audio is disabled. So I said fuck it, backed up my computer and then reset it to factory condition. I'll see if that works.
