no, you cannot collect our online email providers to breech the spam walls... try burning to disc dude. or upload a bittorent file to him and he can download it directly from you.

I'm not talking about using this email provider-I'm looking at services that specialize in sending big files-1gb or more-There are some out there but I want a good deal if you know any-I don't want to mail a disk-I burn those myself-She has dial-up and it's real slow to use if I compress the file it will take a while to use-I have msn and they have a 500 mb lmit on email attachments--most movies are at least 8-Whats the best way to do this? How do I upload a file to her from my movie files?

Please no paranoid wall breaching replys-lol I'm just looking for an easy way to send the damn file-nothing more!-All services give you around 1gb of space per month for 5 or 10 bucks-That can get expensive to send video files-I suppose I could convert them but from what to what? -I have" Convert X To DVD" but that won;t do me any good here-- thats for burning-she can do her own burning on that end-I may have to convert to the smallest video format available then compress it-??

you may have a problem at both or either end of the connection

most email providers only allow for maximum 12mb extensions - some admins insist attachments of no larger than 2mb -If you use html mail the attachment is stored separately so its like using an ftp or http transfer - it will take a long time - even if you can store a couple of gigs of mail on each server thats usually the amount of emails in total -

but two things occur - when using smtp to send an email you will find that a large attachment may time out the server - it will take so much and just close the connection as they are told to do that for security and because o the time it is taking to reach the end of the file is set to prevent the server breaking and trying to read files for an indefinitely long time.
similarly if your friend picks up the email using pop or pop3 they will time the server out for definite with a file that takes more than a few minutes to pick up - if you use http to transfer it - it will take just as long as if it were on a ftp server
Its more to do with the size of the email and the capabilities of each mail server in the chain than your ability to store a file that big
best just post it via snail mail (hand delivery)

the only other way I can think of is to use a remote filestore
or allow the friend to log in remotely to your computer and get the files
    - try these
    http://www.freewebspace.net/guide/diskstorage.shtml
or google for free file hosts

Not at all well explained was it ?

LOL Ok - in better English this time

When you send a email - assuming you are not using hotmail or any other html mail service. You will normally be sending via smtp. This allows you to send attatchments of any size providing the admins havent limited the size of attatchments - which normally they would.
So not only will you have a problem sending a big attatchment BUT
unless the friend is using a server that can recieve smtp and its an unlimited one - then it will time out and prevent such large attatchments. Its designed so that disk space isnt filled up to attack the server - in other words its to prevents server attacks. And they time out for that reason too.

Suppose the friend picks up the mail with a pop3 client from a pop3 account - well that will be virtually impossible as the timeout limits are always quite low and what will happen is that no other email will be read till that first email is downloaded - that will cause severe problems believe me !

Best idea is to use a free file host or send via hand delivery on cd's

yeah, CODEC stands for COmpression DECompression. video starts out as an 'iso' actually. then it is converted. only faster computers can play iso's. usually video streams hosted from a server HAVE to be an iso. keep in mind that you cant even compress some movie files. like MPEG4 may not compress into a '.zip' because it is already compressed too far.

OK-Thanks you guys-I have 1 Click DVD PRO-I asked the same question on their forum and one of the forum referees jumped me for asking about mailing pirated movies-She closed the thread!-I send her an im saying I wanted to take dvds and convert them to files I could send to a friend-She could then burn them to disk-How could that be considered piracy?I own it-Can I not file share?-The local library file shares everyday-so how am I breaking a law-I believe they are just a little paranoid about being busted-They sell the software to not only copy from one to another but from downloads and they sell the software to convert the files from divx to dvd-how hipocriacal-So now all of a suden my program called Convert X to DVD(VSO SOFTWARE) is not opening up-I wrote them and they said to reinstall it-I did-still wont open-They are affiliated with LG SOFTWARE-They give you a cd copy program from VSO (X to DVD) when you buy 1 CLICK-Is there anyway they could be keeping the program from opening when I click on it?-Is that possible-No other programs are doing this -just that one-it goes to the toolbar and sits-when I click nothing happens-I have reinstalled it three times now-It worked fine few days ago-any ideas-did I piss em off? hahah-Am I being spanked?

Yeah Pando is P2P (peer to peer ) software that works by making a direct connection between two computers - its slow (usually) - I've never used pando - and am highly skeptical of p2p programs as I spend time securing systems not opening them up - so I look at it slightly different than someon who is using computers for entertainment rather than business. Try it and see what you think but please - make sure you have good antivirus in place and just make sure by googling +pando +sucks
    what the complaints are -
Actually this is on their own website so possibly the company is ok - its someone saying "pando sucks" apparently speeds are VERy slow unless you pay for a faster version
    pando forum
check it out - I havent seen MAJOR criticisms of either the company or the software
I certainly havent seen anyone saying the site is full of viruses or spyware but just be careful that their program isnt a spyware program - quite a lot of P2P stuff is ! Thats the best I can do to check it out - I'd say it looks safe enough and the site doesnt link to any dodgy sites as far as I can see
but you'll need broadband at either end to pick it up else your speeds will be too low

Thank You Sub-I will check those out-I tried to get that info from the LG Software forum but they don't like talking about emailing video files-They are super touchy about that subject-It will be a fine day when the law is put in place allowing for some file sharing that dosen't completely break any stupid laws-There should be a simple solution to the whole thing-If I buy a video I believe that video is mine to do as I please with it-As long as I am not making mass copies and selling them -I think they should allow people a certain number to burn for friends or backup-Right now most people on the planet are breaking some kind of copyright law and probably don't even know it-Sharing a movie with my neighbor should be no more illegal then the library file sharing it's videos with me-Anyway-thanks again-
