Alright. Im fairly new when it comes to mushrooms. i mean i have tripped off them countless times, but never knew what was normal or average, amounts, sizes, or anything like that. just had the go into the field, eat what u find when u find it and enjoy the trip. but i continued to see pictures where people were showing what they found and where people had bought some dried shrooms and they didnt look like shit! i mean really, they were the size of quarters and nickels. I went out today and did a hunt with a kroggers plastic grocery bag and filled it pretty much to the top. they were average sized shrooms in my opinion, but you give me an idea of where or not this is a fairly large shroom. im sorry for the shitty quallity and the position it was taken in a hurry, but the cap is about the same diameter of the coke can and just as tall. this is the more normal sized shroom i found out of the batch, there was bigger ones about the diameter of a grapefruit, those are a a bit more difficult to chow down on considering that cap in the picture is a mouthfull. anyways i got a very large amount of these and im planning on putting them into tea tonight.what are yalls thought
i would certainly tell u not to eat them until u are POSITIVE if the mushroom is poisionous or not.... but i'd flush them... they dont look llike any type of psilocybin containing mushrooms i've seen
really?!?! are u serious? ive been eating from this field for a good number of months now. what are u used to seeing. these have the purple ring around the stem, with the sun cap. its just messy because its been all mixed up with a bunch of others in a bag.
i feel better now. i took a look at the shroomery.org page and there was a thread about the gulfcoast's shrooms and how down here in texas we had the prettiest and biggest shrooms around. and after seeing a few pictures, i feel like my theory's were confirmed.. this is exactly what i see when i go out in my field, and exactly what i have in my possesion at this very moment..
Omg u cant spend some money for shrooms.. omg... spend soem 30-50 and live wiht magic or u can as easily die...
I would highly recommend gettinng a mushroom identification/field guide book or check one out from the library. A good one will tell you what other mushrooms that look similar and how to tell them apart so that you can be sure you know what you are finding. As to size, I think those look small to medium, they can get much bigger.
some Japanese tourists died here in the state of Washington eating some mushrooms that LOOKED like the edible kind, a word to the wise.
dark star if you've eaten these friendly fungi before then dont listen to anyone, if you know they're good then you're lucky and damn that picture of those four look good..
thank you. damn. this is what has been on my mind this whole time. i acually ate the batch that the first picture came from and everything was fine. had the trip of my life. went to a show and had no clue who the bands were but enjoyed every moment of it. I have been to this field many times and plan to go many more times. ill be posting more pictures in the future. this has become a hobby i have grown fond of next thing in the future is to find the best route to drying and storing so that with each harvest i can save and despense to friends the power of these magical fungi.
