At least 20 members of Navy Seal Team Six, the team involved in killing Bin-Laden, were themselves killed when their helicopter was shot down during an operation in Afghanistan. All together 30 US soldiers and seven Afghans were killed when the Taliban shot down the chopper.

This was the biggest single day loss of American life since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001.

    It's "The Dogs of War".

They knew what they were in for.

^^^ gawd yeah, you are not kidding, but it must still be very traumatizing... death is a very different thing close up, compared to what peeps are shown on the boggle-box...

sorry, that was intended as a reply to orison...

and TheGhost, i still think that no matter how much or what kind of training you get, you are still unprepared for the stench of death...

OK, so according to my husband, it "may be" the same troops that killed Bin Laden but they can't say for sure because that elite group is to remain nameless/faceless to the news.

It is still a very tragic thing to happen. My thoughts go out to the families of those fallen, brave men

War is war.. why cry for one side or the other.

Cry for both sides because no matter what,

an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

"This was the biggest single day loss of American life since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001."

Now that bit did surprise me. Wars are getting safer and safer for the invading powers. I wonder what the highest Afghan death toll ona single day was? And how many of those were women and children and unarmed men with no intention of joining the war?

Or maybe the helicoptor was "shot down" so SEAL team 6 couldn't reveal to anyone what really went down when Osama was "killed"? I smell a conspiracy theory coming on...

What kind of cruel irony is this? What kind of army sends the soldiers who accomplished the MAIN OBJECTIVE back into harms way? When do they just get to head home and get back to their women?

When will there be a day when there isn't a single shot fired in anger?
